That's interesting. I wonder what the higher courts will do if the defendants appeal to them for a stay.

There.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/12/federal-judge-allow-gay-marriages-resume-week-california/

and there.

And now Pat Robertson's American Centre for Liberty and Justice can now live up to their slogan:

"The ACLJ is an organization dedicated to the defense of constitutional liberties secured by law."

So the ball is now in the court of the Ninth Circuit (no pun intended). Interesting.

I've posted elsewhere that I thought the ruling should be stayed. I'm continuing to consider that question. In other words, my view is not really completely settled. I may not settle on a final answer before it becomes moot.

LOL

construct, I love ya!

Well I am sad that those people didnt get to marry that were in line today, BUT after reading Walkers decision on the case, I am going to have to say that I trust his judgement.

So I was wrong that he'd impose a stay originally although it is possible for the 9th Circuit to impose one now, I understand.

I would have loved to be in the room to see the bitter and ugly disappointment on the faces of all those who fought so hard to make Prop 8 a brief reality.

I would love to see their anguish and dismay and disgust.

I want to see the face of Pat Robertson when he realizes his sister can have the same rights as he does.

I want to see the veins pop on the foreheads of all the conservative trolls who have been flooding sites with their garbage for the last months.

I want to see FOX News balance this ball on the tip of their nose.

I am glad that I lived to see this day.

BTW.

Anyone else notice that there's no excited response from Laika, Coolkid, Pixie, Henry Reardon et al?

On a day when a solid gain has been made for homos across the land, we're more interested in whether Hilary will run in '12, or that some minor state political dumbfucks disparaged la Palinand got turfed by the adults in their own party.

Rareboy, you've really gotta ease up on the baiting. buddy

I completely agree. ..|

And Pat Robertson's sister is gay??? Wow, I feel so sorry for her.

oops.

I meant Gingrich.

Personally I don't know.

I just don't know.

It's hard (but not in a good way) for this Texan to get excited about all of this.

My nippples get more than a little tingly that somewhere down the road that the Anti-Gay Constitutional Amendment that was passed back in 2006 here in Texas so that current/running for re-election Republican Governor "Good Hair" Perry could energize his base to get out and vote, 'because Texas Queers serving in Iraq should find another State to live in' might ultimately be over-ruled by the USCOTUS makes me kinda giddy!

However, until that time comes, I'm happy for my friends out in California. :)

For the rest of us we just have to stand fast that on a "Constitutional" level; THIS IS THE RIGHT (no pun intended ) decision.

I think the ruling on the stay was an excellent and measured decision. Put the ball back in Yes on Prop 8's court to seek a stay from the Appellate court and to do it expeditiously rather than dragging it along...
