i dont gawk, but i think it is normal to notice and idont think its a bad thing.
 
As much as I would like to look, I have to find a corner where I can be alone to change and can't see anyone. Forget about showering. I guess it's because I have been in locker rooms so few times (could count on my hand) and because incidental sexuality is a huge turn on for me, that just me alone in a locker room getting undressed gives me a huge boner. Well, then yeah, in your case it would be pointless to do the towel-undie move. But, other people that are more modest, worry about such things. They'll be embarrased regardless if they know the person or don't know the person. Part of that mentality may be an upbringing thing, maybe life experiences or whatnot. Not everyone is quite so open sexually.
 
Which gyms do you guys go to with so many hot naked guys walking around proudly? In my gym's locker room, majority of the fully naked men walking around are senior citizens. I need to switch to a different gym.

I don't go to a gym at all, there's nothing special locally where I live
 
Whenever I go to a gym, I just be casual about talking, start by saying hello, then carrying the conversation, you can usually tell if the person isn't interested in talking.

As for looking, I usually just look, but im not dumb about it. I won't stare at a guy or look directly at his package, I usually just move my eyes and not my head to look, or a nice trick is getting a towel and wiping your face and checking out his package after you wipe your face.

You learn self-control in school showers. Believe me, the worst thing would be to get a boner there, so you learn to keep it down. If you haven't had that experience then I would suggest starting slowly: pick a gym time when there are few people there; get used to showering, etc. Believe me (again) there are few experiences more pleasant than a nice packed shower room with some young dudes thrown in.

The gyms I attend usually have a large number of military occupants.

Common sense and courtesy go a long way. To be specific:

1. No blow jobs in the sauna, no fucking in the rest room stalls, no jacking off in the showers. Don't be sexual. Period. It isn't a gay sex club.

2. Don't spread your gym bag and gear all over the bench. Leave room for others.

3. Don't track water all over the locker room. Dry off in the shower area (except for the hot 20 yr old at my gym who is into boxing and mma and who does not carry a towel with him to the showers but walks out buck naked back to his locker to dry off. He can track water anywhere he wants.)

4. Don't take a shower head right next to another guy. Leave one space between you. This does not apply if the shower is crowded.
