Proposed GOP Repeal of Health-Care Reform Would Increase Deficit $230 Billion

There's nothing deceptive about it. Repealing it would result in $540 billion less spending. But it would also result in $770 billion in less tax revenue. (hence the $230 billion deficit)

So yes, a repeal would result in less spending, but to get rid of that spending you would also have to get rid of all the extra taxes too.

Plain and simple the proposed GOP Repeal of Health-Care Reform is nothing more than another Republican Wedge Issue.

You know like Immigration, Abortion, Gun Rights, Gay Civil Rights.

All the things that the Republicans need to keep getting themselves elected.

Issues that keep Americans divided as opposed to uniting all of us behind a common cause that isn't war related, or fear based.

The same Republicans who wave the American flag, talk about God and Country, and their Love for the Middle Class while they go out and gut our Education System, Encourage shipping American jobs oversees, and our youth to fight wars for Corporate Interests.

You know. A wedge issue.

The Republicans had every chance to participate in reforming Health-Care, but now have set about dismantling it, and doing everything in their power to keep us back in the 'glory days' of the Bush Years circa 2001-2009.

What a prosperous, and proud time that was in American History.

Does anyone know if the Republicans intend to repeal the health care reforms of GWB, like the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (which former comptroller general David Walker called the most fiscally irresponsible bill since the 1960s)?

Or is this just an attempt to repeal the privately-funded reforms of the Democrats?

Bush years?

Pay attention to Boehner, and his goal is to crank us back to Mayberry and Petticoat Junction, with a side order of Beaver Cleaver and maybe some Happy Days for dessert.

This whole thread is amusing to listen to you go at it. You do know that CBO reports are dependent upon the numbers that are inputted to them along with the assumptions by those requesting the report. Therefore, the results that come from that office are dependent on the input and assumptions given them. so it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

I am encouraged that Rep Paul Ryan, who will now head the House Budget Committee, is very knowledgeable and has spent many years coming up with viable solutions. He has gotten results from the CBO office on this very issue which runs counter to what the Deomcrats are talking about. I hope he is able to bring rational debate to this debate and the whole federal budget problem.

Don't you see the irony of talking about the CBO reports "independence" when you can get two different results on the same issue. CBO results are totally dependent on what is inputted to them !!!
