I lived in NY state back in the late 60s and thru the 70s and every summer I spent 10 to 12 days in P-Town. This went on for 13 or 14 years. Then In the early 80s I also moved to Florida! I sure miss the old A House! Got a lot of good tricks out of there! Especially in the afternoon while doing a little “day drinkin”….Well, after having my rent go up and up, and then the owner selling the property, like everyone is experiencing, I had to move. Many landlords discovered they could make more money renting as an air b and b rather than year round or seasonal. So, I relocated to Florida and miss the cape and P-Town. Funny going from a local that can go any time, to a tourist and make plans for a once every five year visit.
No more dick dock after last call! Seriously, I recommend the bike trail on the National Seashore, great views! ...and I did a lot of work on the Lobster Pot over the years.
Hay Smart! You mentioned Victors as a bar in P-Town. Well back in the 1970s the A-House was owned by a man named Victor.. did they rename the A-House to Victor’s? BTW I live in SW Florida and have been to Key West many time! It’s a great trip, you’d love it!….We see Judy Gold every summer at various venues in P-Town. Love the Post Office Cabaret and Victors. I agree that the drive up the Cape is gorgeous and walking down Commercial Ave. is always interesting no matter what time of day it is.
I have also been to other "gay" towns like Hillcrest near San Diego and West Hollywood. Still waiting to go to Key West.
The A house is still there and I have met some really interesting people there. Victor's has been open a dozen years or so and I am pretty sure the owners are separate people. Victor's always has a really hot wait staff!Hay Smart! You mentioned Victors as a bar in P-Town. Back in the 70s the A house had a day time bartender that was straight and one that was gay. The straight guy was hotter than hell and all the gay guys used to tease him! But I’ll tell ya that guy made a FORTUNE in Tips!….lol . I got one of the best tricks out of the A house one afternoon while doing a little “day drinking” but that’s another story!….The A house is still there and I have met some really interesting people there.
