PS3 or Xbox 360?

Which would you recommend/prefer to have/own?

I only ask, because I am thinking about getting one of them this week (maybe even tomorrow).
I've played a variety (and the same) games on both consoles, and don't see a huge amount of difference, in all fairness.

I'm not really looking for hard facts of what's better and why, nor am I trying to start a slang match between people.. Just genuinely interested in which console you prefer.. :-)

Personally, I think I will buy the PS3 (if I get any), because I've had a Playstation since day one, and I am so used to, and happy with the controller, and games.

But yeah.. lets hear some other voices! ..|
 
Actually, I've been asking myself that same question on and off for the past 6 months... both of them have games that I really want to play and are exclusive to that system.
 
If you like the idea of playing with friends and talking to them well your shooting them then Xbox 360 is for you! :)

Playstation 3 is good too but its online stuff isnt the same as xbox 360.

I own both systems and PS 3 is basically a blue ray player for me. My xbox 360 is my gaming machine.
 
Get the PS3 man!! PS3 is off the chain! I've had my PS3 since Christmas '06 and it's THE BEST. There are different models you can buy though, and you might come across different ones if you do decide to buy a PS3. Different models have slighty different features, nothing drastically different though . You might check out this chart to compare each model's features. The 60 Gig is the best (it has all complete features), and it's the model I own, and if you can find one I suggest getting that model, but you might not find it since it's production has been discontinued. You'll most likely come across the 80 Gig model. Plus PS3 has free wireless online (gaming and internet browser). Oh, and it also has Playstation Home, an online virtual world where you create yourself and do things like visit different places, take part in different activities, and interact and talk (via text entry with the controller or a headset, whichever you choose) with other virtual people (PS3 owners who are online as well. There's always lots of people on PS Home.)

Yeah the only models that are about (as far as I can see) are 80GB.

Yeah, technically, 360 costs less than PS3, but you get more value for your dollar with PS3 if you add up all of the features. Out of the box, PS3 has built in wifi and blu-ray. These may or may not be of value to you depending on your setup/preferences, but I find them very important. With a 360, you would have to spend an additional $70-80 for a wireless adapter, and it doesn't have blu-ray capabilities (although Netflix is an alternative for hi-def video, which you would have to subscribe to). And you have to factor in the charging of your wireless controls, and the possible need for expandable memory, because the PS3 comes ready for these things, whereas you would have to pay more for these options w/ the 360.
 
I can only comment on PS3 since that's all I have.

It plays gorgeous video and audio on an HDTV and home theater system but

I don't like the noisy fan when it kicks-into high gear. Do the others have that?

I realize it has to cool down that processor but why so loudly?

I also don't understand why it's so damn heavy.
What the hell's in there?

I only have a ps3 as well, but I lived for 2 years with a roommate who had a 360, and the fan in the 360 was far louder than the one in the ps3. However, you have the option of installing 360 games onto the hard drive, and playing a game that way is quite quiet.

We probably ended up playing the 360 more, to be honest, but both systems had games that we loved.

Also, I have one of the old ps3 models, so i still have backwards compatibility, which is sick.

Got Skate 2 and Killzone 2 with it! (!)

The console is 80GB, and is currently doing a few updates. :-)

Yeah, 360's fan is a LOT louder, oy! lol.
 
I have PS3. I would recommend it and yes, the fan is quieter than the xbox 360's.

It has the Uncharted series as well that makes it well worth the money.

The 360 fan is louder? Holy crap. It'd drive me out of the room.

I put my iTunes and cds on the HDD of the PS3 and I noticed the fan doesn't go into high gear that way. The demos I've downloaded from the store are on the HDD, obviously.

I love Assassin's Creed and Uncharted. I'm sick of waiting for Gran Turismo 5.
The prologue is awesome but why do we have to wait so long for the full version?
 
I have the Xbox 360. Its gotten the red rings 3 times already :((((((
 
The perpetual "red ring of death" speak has turned a lot of gamers off to the 360, me included. I bought the 360 at some point, but sold it. I believe this was during the phase of the "HD DVD vs. Blu ray." Which was pretty dumb to begin with... regardless, I had all three next gen consoles. To be honest...the 360 didn't have anything the PS3 didn't/ eventually would have.
 
recently got the 360 and i really enjoy it. i play with friends, but i've not noticed the fan. so may be the new models are not as loud. i've not played a ps3 though so i can't compare sorry.
 
Guess this is the worst time to say that both Sony and Microsoft are rumoured to be revealing there next systems at E3 next year!
 
get a xbox to be honist, don't look at what your getting now, look at what your getting later this year....
1. a full body motion censor, (your the controler)
2. Facebook/twitter
3. SKY with no dish!!! ( i can't fit a dish so i can't wait personally)

there are loads of other things comming as well
i personally think if your gamming with your mates then xbox, if ps3 is anything like the ps2 game style wise, its nice to play by yourself.

I don't want to pay for online gaming on Xbox.
Already have Sky, and use Facebook on the iPhone.

I played online with friends yesterday on my PS3 (which I already posted, about buying) and had a riot! ..|
Just ordered GTA IV, and Fifa 09 for a really great price, so they should be here on Thurs/Fri!!! Yay! (!) :D
I am really happy with my purchase, and it'll be used a lot. Glad I didn't buy a 360, because at heart I know I'd have kicked myself now, if I didn't get the PS3.
