Queer As Folk...Not

Is it just me - or was this ever an accurate portrayal of the gay lifestyle? I guess it is in the same way that 'All My Children' is for str8 folks.
mg

It's not you, it is an accurate portrayal. Some people here would say it's not.

I enjoyed it and have all 5 seasons of the American version. Have not seen the English one. Where can I get it on DVD?

you can get the UK version at www.tlavideo.com. Thats where I got them.

The UK version was pretty decent, though I didn't like the ending (it only ran for 2 seasons). The US version was groundbreaking for it's time. There was nothing even remotely like it, and there still hasn't been anything on TV that was gay oriented that was anywhere near that graphic.

I don't own the dvds, and I don't think I'd buy them, but I did enjoy watching it when it was on. Some of the plot lines were decent, and some of them were horrible. And I'll agree that the gay lifestyle wasn't accurately portrayed, but it's TV, where even in reality TV, real life isn't portrayed.

Justin really pissed me off on that show. So did micheal at times. All in all wasnt a bad show loved all of brians scenes , mainly coz they were hot !

I think the only reason i ever watched it on showtime was because it was about gay men... now that it is on logo I haven't the least desire to ever watch it again.

It may be dated, cheesy and all of the above but exactly how many other shows do we as a communtiy have out right now? How many do we have total?

We seriously need another show, something more current, to come along.

When it was on I wasn't able to watch it regularly, but enjoyed it when I could.

I understand some guys would relate to it easily as it is generally their lifestyle tho in a 'soapy' format. To others it was just over the top and they couldn't relate to it at all.

To have it on TV in Aussie made it a talking point for not only gay people but I was amazed how many st8 women watched it and discussed the storylines so just for that reason I think it was good that it was on TV and 'in ur face'.

Noah's Arc on Logo ; acting isn't much better but the story lines are decent ,funny original and most of the guys are cute.

Noah's Arc was unfortunately cancelled by Logo so we really don't have anything especially for us. We have shows obviously geared towards women and gay men but nothing 'mainstream' like Queer as Folk, or even to a lesser extent Will and Grace.

I never liked Noah's Arc... i really really did not like it... It seemed too much like a crappy sex in the city rip off.

For a couple of years, some friends and I (straight women and gay guys) started watching the show and it was pretty exciting. I started getting embarrassed though. I lived in for a while and it wasn't as crazy as that show. Weren't they all in the porn business at one time? I know it's a soap opera, but I didn't feel good about watching it. It was a big production, so I'm hoping for more and better shows.

At the time, it was one of the best shows featuring gay characters. I mean it wasn't realisitc and the last season was far to political for my taste but it was a nice escape for awhile.

I compare it to Noah's Arc as they were both good as that point in time but not exactly great tv viewing.
