any one else besides me am watching it thanks to Netflix

I guess I never saw the 4th season as it is all new to me

Great show. Own em all. It's the show me and my boyfriend watched when we first met. I'd go over late at night and we'd watch a few episodes and then do 'other' stuff.

I followed it faithfully when it first ran. I usually don't follow serials/soap operas, but I couldn't turn away from this one.

I always thought that one of the strong values of that show was the photography, which was marvelously done, but I came to like and dislike many of the characters as well.

The show was good but not extraordinary. I mean have you ever seen a 17 year old boy eloping with a 29 year old after the first casual sex and behaving like a grown up relationship minded person? Also they showed Brian as nothing short of a god that is untrue in real life. They showed that he can woo anyone he wants including bears, leather guys, chubs etc etc and everyone will go after him if he just winks at them.

Excluding Justin and Brian, the show was OK. Emmett was really great and was the lifeline of the show.

I have a thing where if I start watching a series I watch it all, regardless of if I really like it or not. It's like TV OCD. So I've seen QAF start to finish, and I wasn't impressed. There were some good moments, but overall the writing was shoddy and a bit campy. The premise of a gay-themed TV drama will swing around again - it's inevitable - and when it does it should have smarter writing and better acting (and hopefully I'm involved in the writing part!)

I liked that show. I don't like the fact that I watched it with a bunch of stupid dangerous assholes. But I watched the first season.

That episode with that guy working at the strip club was pretty interesting.

I know Pansy Division was mentioned in the show once too. That was awesome.

I KEEP HEARING OF THE UK Version. Is it really that good. I guess that's something you'd have to import though T_T. I heard they actually did show the sex too. I don't know the history behind the show though.

Even if they are stereotypes. It's just interesting seeing gay figures in a show. Even if it is drama. I don't see that much. So it's interesting to me at least.

Not all tv shows. IN that show roseane. That old gay guy. Was ACTUALLY normal and just a bashful old man who was realizing his sexual identity.

But yeah most shows do have the queen, the twink, the leatherman, the bears (hot), the muscle men, and etc.

And when I was saying that. I was sort of mocking the one who said that stereotypes were in the show. And I haven't watched enough of it to know.

Although that one episode was interesting with that older guy who died while fucking the younger guy in the airplane.

Oh yes. We gays love to bicker. It's on the to do list every hour ;O

But you are very correct. There is probably no show that doesn't have a stereotype or archetype since there is one for pretty much everything.

However, some shows use less of the "typical" ones such as a pre-teen girl who wants to go to the prom but doesn't know what to wear, or the guy who wants to get a girl but is too shy to ask her.

They really get old after a while. But once in a while there is a show that doesn't have the typical ones and have more interesting ones or less featured ones. Or they make fun of the typical ones.

Who didn't watch that show. I have seen the whole series. Yeah, it was full of stereotypes and one sided but I loved the story lines and characters (especially Emmett and Michael).

I didn't love the British version more although this is often commented on. I didn't think it was a great series (not like Six Feet Under, for example) but I enjoyed every ridiculous moment.

Speaking of Peter Paige I remember fondly the arc with him and the football player who bought out the restaurant because Emmett didn't like having to always meet in the guy's apartment.

I'm in the process of watching season 4 and when Vic died I actually cried.

everyone has n opinion of it but I love it . I was watching it as I was coming out in real life and I have learnt a lot since from it.

I just might watch the whole seasons once again.

Yes the UK version is WAY better.

Because it's short. It tells a definite story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. It's the right end with the right couple getting together, and it doesn't go on like a gay soap opera. It's also the ORIGINAL.

The whole thing is only eight episodes + one ninety-minute special, and can be obtained on DVD from amazon. Get the collector's edition boxed set.

PANSY DIVISION actually did a live gig here in Macomb, Illinois about 15 years ago (on campus), and I saw it live. Way cool!

Awesome. I love them. They have started doing a youtube series as well. They came here a few months ago but I was in school so I missed them. They were coming to talk about their new book though and do some acoustic songs. I'd much rather see them play live.

So in other words. Only 8 episodes of the NA one or maybe less than that are actually from the original material. But the rest is nothing more than the fillers, side stories, and an alternative ending to keep the series going and to try and keep it interesting?

So each episode is only 30 minutes huh. I wonder how they made it so shrot. I did check wikipedia and it said 10 episodes but showed no episode list. So I guess that the last 2 episodes is the 90 minute special. I checked amazon and I could tell the difference between the NA logo and the UK logo. The UK logo seems to feature 3 boys on the front with a blue or green background. But it seems they are out of print on amazon. I heard that a video shop near by has the series for rental. But i never found it there.

But I'll definately look around and see if I can find it. I should probably rent the NA series through netflix too and see for myself which is better.

It was written to be a miniseries, and RTD is a good writer who, when he decided to write a miniseries, mad sure he didn't write more than that.

The 90-minute special was originally broadcast as two parts, but was written and planned as a one-shot. C4 wanted him to write a whole second season, but when he tried he found himself having to contrive situations in order to keep the three main characters together (like you said, there's no way a 15-year-old kid would continue to hang out with two thirtysomethings once he'd managed to find his own confidence). So instead he wrote the special, which tied up most of the loose ends from the original run, and made it absolutely clear that, although these character's lives were still going on, we weren't going to see any more of them.

It's interesting you say that. Maybe some movies would be better if there wasn't over nine thousand sequels. A movie has enough time to have a beginning, middle, and end to tie up loose ends. The whole continuation of series and movies is just a way to desperately try to keep them alive for as long as possible.

I've noticed that with those sitcoms with kids or teenagers. The series mostly end after high school because college life is also a lot different and more conflicts and life issues come out that peoele either don't care about or aren't ready to see.

I remember that show boys meets world went all the way to college til they left.

Some shows just have to end because if they keep going they just get repetitive and ruin the series name.

However, some shows end pre-maturely with not clear ending and so many loose ends and plot holes that people get angry and want the show to come back if it is canceled or just ends on a bad note.

I am glad the the writer of the show did not sell out and keep trying to keep the show alive just to make more money and did not care what happens to the story.

I definitely have to check it out now. Shows that are around 10 episodes or so are VERY rare that actually were planned to end and not canceled.

I am actually curious to see how it was wrapped up. I know after futurama was cancelled after they did the straight to dvd movies on the final movie they kind of drift into the unknown so you are unsure of what will happen to them. But you can tell it's either a good bye or that it will continue one day. In the commentary they even state that they hope to be back and work on it again. And I think it was announced a while back that Futurama will continue soon.

A director probably should not end a show or movie with a "What if" or "maybe it will continue" if they have no intention of continuing it. That would just be teasing.

Loved it! Best gay series ever!!! Some of the sex scenes are pretty hot too not to mention the actors are gorgeous!
