So, I was wondering. Is there any place near your home that sells magazines geared towards the LGBT community (no, not the typical fashion magazine like Vogue)?

I was actually looking for through magazine sites, hoping to find a function similar to store availability, but to no avail. Seems it's subscription only. It'd be nice to have them sold in Wal-Mart or something around my stupid town of Fort Walton... I may be out to my parents, but I don't think they're comfortable enough with it to start opening the mailbox to find magazines >_>.

Independent book stores and magazine sellers are more likely to carry them then the chains. Borders and Waldenbooks carry the ones like Advocate and Out but they do not carry any porn. The only chain I have seen porn in is a news stand/tobacco type shop that I have seen in several Malls (at least here in the North East US). They had a selection that included Inches etc. I can't remember the name of the shops though.

I check Borders and Barnes & Nobles from time to time, but we have a gay/lesbian store in the city i live in called White Rabbit

yep, i've seen quite a few in the magazine store near my house. and there are a couple of free weekly ones around too.

i occasionally read the free ones to see if there's anything happening that interests me.

you're not missing out on much to be honest. there's generally just a few gay interest articles that are worth reading and a few nice pics, both of which you couldn't probably find on the internet anyway, for free!

I've seen gay porn in some bookstores around here (I assume it's gay porn, it had a naked guy on front of it and was next to the Playboys, lol). I think I've also seen non-porn LBGT aimed mags, but I can't be sure - I tend only to look at the music mags.

WH Smith stocks GT, Attitude, Refresh and another whose name I forget.

Wow, in England there's loads.
Well actually there's two that I know of, and both have a really good reputation and they're in most newsagents and WHSmiths :)

I'd have to go into the city to a Barnes and Noble or a Border to get a copy of The Advocate or Instinct or Out. I really wish a place like CVS carried them.

Counts on what your looking for. If your looking for porn, just check convenience stores, they usually have some cheap stuff, if your looking for the actual magazines, then i suggest following the others advice,

A few months ago, one of my colleagues gave me a free subscription to Gay and Lesbian Review (somewhat less commercial and more high-brow stuff than Out or The Advocate) when--as part of his compensation for writing an article--he received a bunch of gift subscriptions to give to his friends. It comes in a plain white envelope if you are concerned about who else sees your mail.

In our Borders the gay magazines are right in the front shelves (right in front of the door) its very very hard to miss it.
