I have an itch, just at the base of my penis/shaft and at the top of my scrotum. I don't think it's crabs, as I haven't been sexually active since May. It started about 3 weeks ago. I read online and kept seeing "crabs" so I got some lice shampoo and treated myself, just in case. I've treated for crabs three times, but it's still there. Hoped you guys could give me some other ideas on what it might be. No insurance, so I'd like to avoid the doctor if at all possible. I'm hoping it's just some simple jock itch or something20130709_080353.jpg20130709_080357.jpg20130709_080402.jpg

It could be an allergy to bath soap, laundry soap/fabric softener, an allergy whatever you use for lube to jerk off, or some kind of jock-itch/yeast infection, or a heat rash.

Do switch to a soap which does not leave a deodorant residue. Ivory or Dove perhaps. Then, at the drug store you will find creams specifically for "jock itch".

It doesn't look like anything resembling HSV or HPV or other STD bumps. Even jock itch looks more red and fleshy. It could be heat related rash, contact dermatitis (but for 3 weeks is bit much.) Look at some photos of jock itch on genitals and compare. Jock itch tends to spread in size when untreated so watch for that clue. Try some OTC jock itch med since it's anti-bacterial it might treat other related stuff. non prescription jock itch cream didn't work on me so I needed Rx. When I had jock itch on my inner thigh the dermatologist told me that jock itch never or rarely forms on scrotum. And in the humid, hot weather it can be a pain in the ass to treat successfully. Simple jock itch took me over a month to deal with with 2 prescriptions. Try to find Ecanezole Nitrate 1% that shit works like magic.

I've been using Benadryl cream, maybe that's kept it from spreading. I'm gonna try the jock itch cream and see if it helps. If not, guess I'll bite the bullet and pay for a doctor's visit

It actually sounds like crabs. The shampoo should have taken care of that, but perhaps not. Use a magnifying glass to look for crabs. It couldn't hurt, and you probably cannot see them without he glass.

OK Dr. Thanks for the advice and making yourself feel better by freaking somebody out!

Please, It's likely not an STD (and if it is it's curable). Its summer and very many men get jock itch and rashes down below that itch when its humid out.

Get Zeasorb-AF and see how it helps. Wash your crotch with cold water at least twice a day during the summer. Make sure its dry and not smelly (which, unfortunately.... is COMMON).

And, make sure you change your clothes when you're sweaty.

God these responses are ridiculous. If nothing helps try to get in touch with a Dermatologist for prescription medication.

But don't worry... you're likely fine... crabs can usually be seen with the naked eye.

I had the crabs once but could not be sure what it was until I used a magnifying glass.
