Question about Prince Albert Piercing

Firdtly it is one of the least painfull piercings to have done,and when you
tell guys this they just dont believe you.
The reason why is that there are no nerve-endings in your urethra so the
only bit of fleeting pain you feel is when they push the needle through your
dick just under the penile glans and honestly it is all over so quickly that by
the time you register the pain it is done.
Alas like all piercings if you leave the Albert out for to long then yes it does
heal over,though removing it for a night or so is fine.
Hope this has helped answer your very common-sense questions.
If you have it done just make sure you go to a reputable piercer who opens
all the sterile packs in front of you,good luck.

Does it hurt? Not really, just a pinch feeling and it's over.

Sorry to disagree with the post above but, it DOES NOT close up and heal over. Urethral tissue is not like other skin, a specific trait of the urethra is the inner lining must stay separated to function , it WILL NOT grow back together, if you don't believe me, go see a urologist for the details before you decide to get the piercing. The hole will shrink, but if originally healed it WILL NOT "grow back shut" just by removing the ring.

I got a PA 7-8 years ago, started at 10ga finally stretched up to a 0ga over the years, decided last year I didn't like it any more and took the ring out, the hole shrank back to the 10ga size over time but is still there. After consult with 2 urologist their opinion is it will never close without surgery (see above) and that can cause more problems than it cures, so just learn to like and live with it.

Moral of the story: Think long and hard about why you want the PA and if you decide later to remove the ring can you live with the hole.

The term used is "retiring" a Prince Albert.

Whether it closes after you retire it will depend on how long you have had it and what kind of jewelry you have used.

Make the assumption that if you use a large gauge CBR or CUB and you have it in for some time, the chances are much higher that you will end up requiring a surgical repair to close the hole.

Your other option is to plan on spraying like a water wiggle.

Maybe I am just a stick in the mud, but I can't understand the appeal of genital piercing.. I mean, isn't your ding-a-ling interesting enough without impaling it with a sharp piece of stainless steel..

No. You're wrong. The prince albert is a permanent piercing. I was pierced in 2004, wore a ring for under a year at 8 ga., then was with a partner who did not like it. I have not worn a ring since 2005 and still have the piercing. I, like the previous poster, have consulted with two urologists, one who is the head of the urology faculty at nyu, and both told me in no uncertain terms that the only way not to piss out of two holes would be a quite-invasive surgery.

Another dissent from the view that all PAs heal over. I only wore mine for a few months and now, over fifteen years later, the hole remains. Personally, I don't find the second hole a big deal, and for me it doesn't merit special regard. You will simply learn a few tricks to pee differently.

I felt no pain during the piercing itself, much less than other piercings I gleefully inflicted on myself as a youth. However I did experience some pain later on when, upon a hasty removal of my shorts, the jewelry became entangled and I....um, how do I say this?....tore my dick. Not a lot, but enough to bleed, and enough to caution others that they might not want to tear their dicks. Because tearing your dick hurts and it will make you squirm.
