Question, why do people go overseas

When i see beaches in Thailand or Bali ... or Dubai ... etc, i think shit why do people go to these places and lay down like a whale or seal where beaches here are much nicer, less crowded, crowded, cleaner and only 30 minutes or mins away and you bring what ever you want.

i didn't lay on the beach overseas where have i much better beaches here and plentiful to enjoy

I have a half decent beach minutes from my home, but it really is only enjoyable to lay on the sand and go in the water a few months of the year. In the winter/spring I enjoy going south or to an island to be on a beach...warm up and get a bit of color. Not every day of the vacation is spent on the beach either, although I wouldn't mind just doing that.

A lot of it is psychological. For many people, it doesn't feel like a real vacation if they are that close to home. By going somewhere far away, all responsibilities are put on hold and people can relax while not having the day to day worries that plague so many people in these modern times.

For us in Scotland i would hazard a guess at "relaxing in the sunshine".

Although we had for the "Celts" a decent summer.

To see the beach bodies in other parts of the world! Sure I can go to a beach in Canada (and freeze half to death) and check out pasty bodies like my own or I can go somewhere tropical and check out men who look nothing like me.
