I thought they were for the blind?

I put my hand in the keyboard and feel for either the enter button or the space bar button and use those as a guide for when typing in the dark. Once I get started I don't need them though.

They're for touch typing.

Do people still do that? I find it a lot faster without getting distracted by this 'home keys' stuff

Why is it called touch typing? You don't need those bumps. I find the space bar with my fingers and then I just know where the rest of the keys are and never have to look at the keyboard.

I learnt how to type on my own. I don't know which fingers push which buttons really, I think whichever is closest pushes that button.

The "j" and the "f" keys have a raised dash on them.

It took you this long to feel those raised dashes? What have you been wearing on your hands when you've been typing? Oven mitts?

My keyboard is reformated to the Dvorak layout. So the dashes are under the "U" and the "H" keys.

That would certainly set my typing back a few words a minute. I have enough fun with the extended reach for the laptop keyboard.
