First smokers are hounded from offices and pubs, forced to huddle shivering in street doorways; then they are considered unfit to adopt children under five; and now even surgery is being cruelly withheld from them. What next: will smokers be forced to parade with self-denouncing placards in the street?

that is sad.

oh wait, is not. Seriously "smokers right"? It is a filth completely unnatural habbit that causes problems for them and others around they!

I wasn't aware that smoking hindered bone regeneration. Interesting.

I do know that heavy smoking and anesthesia are not a good mix. My ex's Grandfather was refused an operation because he smoked so much his lung capacity was such that he couldn't undergo anesthesia.

i have worked in health care for 37 years, many of those years in a vascular surgery practice...

one of the surgeons in that group would routinely refuse to operate ELECTIVELY if the patient would / could not stop smoking for a week or two before surgery...

smoking made healing of vascular incisions and other aspects of the surgery and recovery more difficult..

of course, emergency or urgent surgeries were never refused....the patient's best interests were always the motivating factor....

Go to grammar and spelling school, then maybe I'll hold your opinion as valid.

Yes, it is our right to smoke. Also, what exactly is an unnatural habit? Doesn't that mean driving a car is unnatural? Please son, get out of my face with this propaganda B.S. I'm tired of people judging me because I smoke.

Yeah, Mispelling tottally invalids my opinion . My arguments should not give any attetion because I am not speaking my native language.

With unnatural I mean that there is no way to make it a valid necessity. Driving your car is just a way to fullfill a need to go somewhere faster. But HOW you can justify smoking other than the fact that you are already addicted to it? It is breathing toxic smoke!
Sure you may have the right to do anything to yourself, it is your problem, but the pleasant scent of a cigarrete can go anywhere so not only you but people around you suffer the consequences.

EDIT:

Oh, right, about the "judging" well, I don't exactly think bad of smokers, at worst I see it as a terrible addiction and the peoples that do it are either unable to stop or misguided, I blame the companies. I don't think much better of alcohool either (actually worst). However "smoker rights" sounds are rather absurd idea to me.

You could say that about most things. Drinking alcohol, eating fried food, watching television, using the internet to chat on forums, kareoke??
They are all developments of natural habits, even if they aren't the best ones. Driking and eating bad drinks/foods it is just a manifestation of eating and the pleasure that you get from that, watching television and internet are extensions of our need to comunicated and curiosity and Kareoke... well kareoke is just wrong xD
