Quiting Smoking

Its been about 2 months for me now. I used cantrix (which is an awesome drug) to quit smoking.

Congratulations and good luck dutchguy!

and the same for all the rest of you who have just quit smoking. Be very proud of this accomplishment. I did it 5 years ago and although it hasn't always been easy it is by far the smartest thing I have ever done for myself.

I quit cold turkey 10 months ago. My advice, don't smoke another one, even "just this once." I really haven't missed it after the first month. Good luck!

I wish you the best of luck. Lord knows I don't have the will power to kick the habit right now! I bet you can do it though. Just gotta stick to it. I've tried to quit before and what always kills me is if I'm drinking and a friend who smokes wants me to go have "just one cigarette" with them. DON'T DO IT! Cigs are like potato chips, its hard to have just one...| ..|

lots of orangejuice...there is something in the citrus that burns nicotine when you are going chem free.
i'm chantrix-ing and have no desire to smoke...but during certain habits(like computer time) it is shear will power.

Yeah, hopefully someday I'll get up the willpower and finally quit. My plan for now and sort of always has been is to quit after college. College is such a bizarre enviroment and living with so many people, and smoking is such a social thing. Hopefully when I get more into the "real world" quitting will be easier.

I did it the same as you. I quit cold turkey several times for a few months and then the last time it was for good.

I gained a lot of weight that last time (without really eating more?!) but then discovered the gym and I think it was all that hard work to get my shape back that kept me from starting up again.

It's absolutely the best thing you can do for yourself. Good luck!

I totally agree. I once gave up for exactly a year. On the anniversary of giving up I allowed myself 1 cigarette as a celebration and by the end of the week I was back to full time smoking.

However, I have now been smoke free for over 8 years without even a single puff of a cigarette/cigar/joint.

So, good luck to you Dutchguy, use lots of positive thinking and remember "You only smoked because you wanted to smoke". Don't give yourself excuses... shit, I'm preaching here, sorry. There's nothing like an ex-smoker!

I'm using that too

I am now at the point of being de-toxed and I want a cigarette but I know it would do me no damn good

I was off the damn things for 5 years - back for three - that is evil shit - gonna stick to it this time

it is cool, it is great, and it is glamorous.

I think once you quit, you might change your tune on this.

Personally, I find smoking a huge turn off and don't find it cool or glamorous. And people who've quit smoking that I've known, tend to agree after being smoke free for a year.

Best of luck to all those quitting by whatever means. It's a VERY hard habit to break, but making the decision to do so is the first step! Way to go!!

I agree completely with jockboy01. Seeing a hot boy smoking is a told turn off for me!

Oh dutchguy hope it is going well!

Quit cold turkey 14 months ago, and still going stong. Good luck, its hard work but worth it in the end.

Just say to yourself, I am NEVER going to put another cig in my mouth again! Sounds easy but just keep thinking it, and when the cravings come, try and ride them out.

Good luck.

Damn as Mark Twain said "Quitting smoking is the easiest thing to do.... I've done it a million times." I have tried over and over again to quit cold turkey - and here I am about to go off and smoke another one... dumbass. I have a prescription to Chantix in the car, but insurance wont cover it, so its a 100 bucks a pop (same as a months worth of cigs) but I don't really know how the drug works. I want to quit sooooo bad!

do it

no, insurance won't cover it which took me by surprise but I was impetuous that day and went ahead - hey, it works far better than anything else - I am on week 3 under chantix and I still want a cigarette but I know it will do me no damn good so it is easy to not have it - there has been very little struggle with this - I feel like I am in the 3rd month of when I last quit, not the third week - it blocks the effects of the nicotine so you end up with no reason to smoke -

I will always want to smoke to a certain extent - but it is just no damn good. I am now getting some of my taste buds back and things are tasting better and the lungs are clearing out - it is all good

The first three are the worst. Your body is going through withdrawal. Just hang in there another day, it'll become easier.

oh man is it difficult

i've been smokin since 14, and i'm 32 now. its hell tryin to quit.

I grew up in the Southern USA and the south here likes our cigs....

I've tried quitting 2 times, but i became and unbearable asshole. I was mean, tryin to pick fights, just turned into an awful person.

1st time i lasted 2weeks, the 2nd time i lasted 1 week.

I know i want to quit soon, especially being in Cali now, people look at you like a freak when you smoke. I'm just scared of the withdrawl and the anger that comes out of me.

Hey Dutchguy, if this - - helps you quit smoking here's another - !!!

But, seriously, u can do it! You're stronger than those cigs!

OK, here's some more anti-smoking encouragement, just in case:
