If you quote something wise, you're not normally as wise as the quote.

If you quote something stupid, you're not normally as stupid as the quote.

If you quote something wise, you're not normally as wise as the quote.

If you quote something stupid, you're not normally as stupid as the quote.

If you consider something stupid, you are way off being cleverer than what you consider stupid.

If you consider something wise, you are far from being wise yourself.

Americans can be such idiots.

That reminds me of the quote, typically attributed to H. L. Mencken, "No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public." But apparently he never said that. The closest quote by him seems to be “No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have searched the record for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people.”

Democracy is the art of having people, who hate each other, coexist in such a way as to dupe them all into the official belief that they are all perfectly equal, while maintaining the secret fantasy that each one of them actually rules over the rest. - Mr B

The use of curse words is a privilege for the intelligent, a burden for the coarse and a curse for the idiots.- H

'People may usually be wise enough not to throw themselves out the window whenever anyone they trust would ask them to do so, but they do not give it the same sort of second thought whenever throwing anybody else is involved.' _ Bee
