I've watched their cartoons from early childhood.

But seriously, this is Wallmart home sign stuff.

Actual Japanese thought is mostly informed by Shinto, Buddhism and a healthy dollop of western thinking, but even with their avid knack for imitation it would never quite turn out like this.

The Torii gate in the picture is an evolution of the original Indian gate, made out of bamboo, that had a top made out of bamboo pipes connected like a ladder standing on its side. Hence the 'windows' over the door opening.
