I know that was intended as an insult but it's actually true.

"People mistake apologizing for feeling sorry: to say that you are sorry does not mean you truly are sorry, but people feel happy with that outer expression, not caring about the true inner feelings that you can not fake, but can wordily and wordly disguise".
This is how people are today. I assumed apology meant a sincere apology, when in fact it just refers to the action of apologizing, be it sincere or not. If that's true, then fake apologies matter, and the offender is free to repeat his mistakes.
