R I P Lauren Bacall dies at 89

Re: Lauren Bacall twitters her hatred for the movie 'Twilight'

I love that!!! I believe she was just 19 when she did this movie. ..|

She was 19 years old when she starred in "To Have And Have Not," which was her screen debut. (Humphrey Bogart was 45.) The film was directed by Howard Hawks. Howard Hawks's wife Nancy spotted her on the March 1943 cover of Harper's Bazaar and urged Hawks to have her take a screen test for "To Have and Have Not."

During screen tests for the film, Bacall was nervous. To minimize her quivering, she pressed her chin against her chest and to face the camera, tilted her eyes upward. This effect became known as 'The Look', Bacall's trademark. Her performance is acknowledged as one of the most powerful on-screen debuts in film history.

Yes, she's always been a very "handsome" woman. Like Barbara Stanwyck and Glenn Close.

Hey, no hating on Barbara Stanwyck! That woman is fiercer than bitch Kristin Stewart can ever be.

Well -- you could also say, as a model she knew how to hold her head and her body in the best position for the camera. Those stills are gorgeous BTW.

It's not "hating" to call a woman handsome, it's a compliment. Although the word isn't used that often these days...

Twilight isn't that vampirey actually.

My favorite vampire movie is Interview with a Vampire

When I see someone being called a 'handsome woman' it also speaks about the fortitude of her character as well as her good looks. Invariably, I think it seems to refer to older ladies who have also aged well as well.

You have to be a Youtube partner to be able to post videos longer then ten minutes. Just watch the quoted video Nosferatu and you will see a linking stating that it is a video response to "How To Upload Videos Longer Than 10 Minutes".
You can just sign up as a director to break the 10 minute rule.

You GO! Ms. Bacall. Twilight is the biggest piece of shit to hit the landscape. And sadly we have to endure more of those movies.

Lauren Bacall, the tough-talking femme fatale who taught Humphrey Bogart how to whistle, has died at the age of 89. TMZ reported that she had suffered a stroke at her family home on Tuesday morning. The Bogart estate confirmed the news via Twitter.

Tweet from the Bogart Estate: "With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall."

She was called 'Betty Backle' when she had her Mikvah ceremony.

(I wonder if the mods will move this to the "Entertainment" Forum?)

I just saw this on my Yahoo News homepage.

Lauren Bacall was one of the last of a very special breed of actress. Her career spanned nearly her entire life. She was only age 19 when she met Humphrey Bogart, who, at the time, was age 44. Their unlikely romance and marriage lasted until his death from cancer in 1957.

But even without forever being "Bogey's gal," Miss Bacall has a most distinguished career on stage, screen and television. She was married for a time, to actor Jason Robards, and from that marriage, came her son, actor Sam Robards.

In recent years, she was still doing commercial voice-overs because of her distinct deep-toned voice. She was beautiful, tough, and a commanding presence in whatever she was featured in.

Now she's one for the ages... Rest in peace, Miss Bacall! :D

We have so many SO many CELEBRITIES passing recently!

At least only Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman of those have been self-inflicted.

Another legend lost rest in peace Lauren
