Tsu Tsu, the little doggie we've been taking care of since my partner's Mom died last year died today. She was a little over 16 years old, and went pretty quickly when the time came.

Now she can chase bunnies with her favorite person again.

It's funny. I'm shedding more tears over Tsu Tsu than I did when Grandma died.

Aww what a cute little doggy. Her lil eyes look like they're looking in different directions.

Soirry for your loss. I hate when pets die, I cry for weeks :( thats the problem with getting them, we know they wont live as long as us but the happiness we get when we have them far outweighs the sadness you get when you lose them.

Sorry for your loss. I know how much you tried to make life more comfortable for her recently. As least there's no more suffering.

(*8*)(*8*)

She lived a long life and appears to have made a lot of people very happy.

Remember her fondly.

how sad, live well knowing she had a fun time with nice people taking care of her. I think of my german shepehrd that passed away four years ago all the time. everytime you think of the dog you will think of your grandmother, nice....

Sorry to hear about Tsu Tsu. 16yrs., what a long life for the pooch. Play hard little one.

What a blessed beautiful dog. The world will miss her very much.

I wanted to also say, threads like these remind me of a very warm and comforting message: that we can relate with animals like dogs as if relating to eah other as persons. It's a celebration of the human mind capacity as well as of the human heart. :)

Yooper I wish you and your partner well--and rip tsu tsu--(*8*)

Sorry to hear this, I wish you and family the warmest hugs and sympathy. The memories will never fade, keep them close to your heart..

So sorry for your loss...

Thanks everyone for your kind words and e-hugs.

I find it very odd that I have cried more over Tsu Tsu than I did last month when Grandma died. We knew this was coming, she's been failing for the better part of two years now.

Perhaps it is because just half an hour before, I was rattling around in the Kitchen, and look down and there she was with her big googly eyes, looking at me hopefully for a snack ('Come ON, whatever you are having you have GOT to share with me...') and then she went and laid down on her bed for a nap.

Then the seizure started and we picked her up and held her, and those big googly eyes looked at us and seemed to say 'I know.' Rushing out to the car with my partner and her in the back seat and zipping down the street to the Vet's office, and the look in her eyes when they took her in back. It was just so sudden, even though we knew, and so did she.

I really don't think she suffered, I think she was beyond pain when the seizure started. Sometime during that she bit her tongue and was bleeding, but she never yelped or nothing.

We're having her cremated and will take her ashes back to Michigan in the Spring, where we will bury them atop my partner's Mom's grave.

I am so happy that just last night before I went to bed, I laid down on the floor next to her and gave her a big tummy rub and a lot of extra love. She was a good girl.

Got this big ole lump in my throat to hear you speak of the loss of Tsu Tsu!

We lost our lovely Tyler in December; but we just canNOT seem to move on......

Here's a poem that has meant a lot to us and hope it will to you guys as well:

A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Since working for madame we have lost one cat and four dogs. Every time I say that is the last one; I'll feed and clean them but I will not get attached. Then each time they creep into my life and subtly weave their way into my affections.

As much as I try to prevent it they have become part of my life and their loss is part of my memories for ever.

The pain and tears over their leaving does go away but thank goodness through our memories they are never far away.

Take care!

I'm sorry to hear that, Yooper. I'm glad Tsu Tsu won't have to deal w/ those mean ole groomers and those nasty, evil vets anymore.

How is your partner taking it?

Yooper, I'm so sorry your pup died. People who aren't animal lovers just don't understand how hard this is on pet owners. I've lived long enough to have seen far too many of my pets die of old age, and it never got any easier.

She must have had a good life to have lived so long. You, your partner, and his mother before you are to be commended for giving her such a sweet life.

How sad.

We sympathise.

I don't find it odd at all that you shed more tears for a dog than for a person. Grief is funny like that.
