You didn't provide me anything -- given that I just asked, that's impossible.

In the instance you did provide for someone else who asked, she lifted some words a bit out of context. But since you haven't provided the complete context, I can't judge whether she's getting the flavor of the whole piece right, or you are.

But either way, she didn't have to "make him sound like a racist" -- he did already, in the unedited version you posted. Oh, not a flaming, KKK-type racist, bit still a racist. He lumped all blacks together as being people who want to get free money that whites earned, and all whites together as hard-working people who want everyone to succeed on his own merits. Both of those are incredible caricatures, and caricaturing is racist -- so he was doubly racist.

I'll grant, in his favor, that it's hard not to sound racist in such a comparison without coming across as politically correct, and in his audience, PC is ratings killer. But it can be done, as I and many others who've been careless have learned on this board. For whatever reason, he didn't -- so even if he's not actually racist, then he's lazy or a bit dim, to do so poorly at his job.

Laika and Coolkid are apparently proponents of the argument that gay marriage puts us on the slippery slope to a man marrying his horse in another thread.

This of course, has led more posters to suspect that Laika and Coolkid are not, in fact young homosexual men, but perhaps straight christian republicans of indeterminate age who have no summer employment and just hang out on this board.

There is, of course, the other theory that they both are closeted self-loathing homos who actually believe in the far right wing conservative positions they espouse.

At any rate, it has become apparent to me that it is of no purpose or interest to engage in a back and forth with either of these two avatars if they want to come onto a gay forum board and trash equal rights for homos.

Maybe they'll find some other christian board where they can amuse one another with their flaccid arguments.

Latka I'm pretty sure is one of those infiltrator accounts we were told were coming to forums. There are just too many bizarre talking points that make no sense. Pay them no attention, they're not real people.

what planet do you live on. breitbart wouldn't make a good pimple on Rachel's ass. She's one of the most brilliant, well educated, articulated folks in the news business. News being a foreign concept to the foxnuts. She's thorough and drills deeper than anyone to expose the full truth - always objective and factual. Tune in sometimes and watch her show -- don't just listen to the foxnuts spin.

Clearly on Planet Laika "out of context" means anything that doesn't show the entire record of the subject's life, because Rachel Maddow is remarkably responsible about providing context, backup and offering everyone the chance to be on the show to respond - where they will be treated graciously, regardless of who they are.
 
Wow, I understand it must be hard for you guys to admit that your beloved Maddow is a manipulator and a liar. Are you all dizzy from your spinning? No one in her audience cares that she cherry picks and edits videos out of context, just so long as she doesn't do it to a liberal. It's funny you brought this up. I ran across this article today. It is about conservatives who go onto forums and just attempt to keep freedom of speech from happening.

The key is to not engage the supposed individual.

Just skip back or forward and address the issue but not the trolling posts.
 
I looked over the laika post about Maddow's unmasking of the racist methods of Fox news which used O'Reilly as an example. I found nothing there to indicate that she did anything more reprehensible than to clip the important parts of the argument to show how the rhetoric works. The final thoughts of the last paragraph were so vapid that they did practically nothing to defuse the vivid descriptions she clipped.

I think other posters have done a good job of asserting that the quotes were not out of context in the sense of misrepresenting the substance of the segment. I am merely pointing out the lame attempt to wash his hands at the end.
