Wow. I mean, just wow.

I have no idea how I'd handle this if he was under my command.

A stern lashing would be good for starters.

This man should have no involvement with the public, and should probably finish the rest of his enlistment cleaning the head.

nothing that a good swift kick in the cunt woudln't cure.

of course, in her case, that would require a wrecking ball.

It's the policy of the US Armed services that openly gay people can't serve. If you've got an issue with that, right Bill Clinton a thank you note. He did it.

If this recruiter actually responded in the manner posted here, he needs to get drummed out of the service and get a job at McDonalds. He is a disgrace to the uniform not to mention the human race.

Ralls is relieved the Army appears to be taking the email exchange seriously.

"The command expects its recruiters to conduct themselves in a professional manner in all dealings with potential applicants and members of the public," said Smith of the Army. "We are ambassadors for America's Army."

Does anyone really believe any action will be taken over this? This is the US Military.

jackroe, they ALWAYS had that policy. The DADT was supposed to stop the persecution of gays and lesbians... it was supposed to be a compromise.

It was a total failure, but they used to investigate, pursue, victimize and be quite underhanded in their treatment of gay service people.

(and the recruiter was a woman.)

Well that certainly speaks volumes, that a recruiter would say this to a potential recruit. I'd sooner expect her to have initially replied something along the lines of, "Er, well, maybe if you just keep that quiet . . . then you can join the party in Baghdad!" But really. Wow. And all that hard, hard work in front of a computer all day, while thousands of LGBT soliders are facing IEDs and snipers.

Cunt.

Prior to Bill Clinton gays could serve in the military?
Gays were still not allowed to serve before DADT. But there were witch hunts and the mere appearance of being gay could get you dishonourable discharged.

Now, if you keep in the closet, they say everything will be fine.

Id' be interesting to see the backlash if every gay service member came out on the same day. But I shouldn't be one to talk. I'm still in the closet when it comes to this.

I just read the whole email.

Well, that pretty much sums up why we're losing the war.

If that woman is indicitive of the average soldier, we've obvisouly got a very serious IQ shortage in the military.

Man... Why am I not outraged?

Why am I not surprised?

I know I should be...

^ Oh My God... A platoon of lesbians?

He does have a point however...

After serving in the Air Force for over 22 years, I can assure you that the military does have policies of NO-dicrimination against anyone and they pretty much strongly support that policy........at least in the Air Force they do; but trust me, I listened to so many jokes about Gays that I wanted to puke; but I had to keep my mouth shut or I would have been kicked out of the military and NOT had my retirement! I bit my tongue so many times that I bled from doing it...

I think in the case with General Pace, he pretty much expresses the feelings the U.S. Army has against gay people...

He should be forced to retire with a lesser rank than he is!(*8*) (*8*)

I can't wait until I turn 40 and then the army recruiters will stop calling me asking if I want to join.

Well, maybe they might have the cut off age at 60 when I'm 40 by the way things are going.

And I have little sympathy for "the gay man" in this story. Don't be a bigot to a racist. Two wrongs don't make a right.

LL, not like I'm defedning him - exactly - but his one comment about the "raindance" I don't think comes close to the things she said. It was a bad call, but considering the attack she had let loose on him, he held it a lot more than I would.

He didn't even call her a "cunt."

That was SO unfortunate that he threw the "raindance" bit in there. He was doing so well standing up to the bitch!

Don't wish your life away! (*8*)

Well, at least he has that going for him.

They are both acted very immature. Corey shouldn't have contacted the recruiter if he had no interest in joining the Army. I think he contacted the recruiter to argue about the military's position on gays. There is no excuse for the extremely unprofessional actions of the recruiter. If anything came out of this, it's that we know how the recruiter really feels about gay people. We shouldn't be surprised at any of this.

Normally, crap like this makes me angry.

For whatever reason this time I find the entire .pdf hilarious.

Social disintegration must be wearing on my funnybone.

I figured the whole "rain dance" thing was more of a "If you're so proud of your history why don't you know this" kinda insult instead of racial...
Or maybe both!

Eddielee, if you read the full email exchange, you will find that the original email was from the recruiter, having found his CV on the CareerBuilder website. On being told about all the great opportunities in the US Army, Corey's first response raised the fact that he is gay, and the exchange deteriorated from there. Cerainly, they both acted poorly (although the recruiter in a vastly worse way), but this was not a case of Corey baiting the recruiter.

I know the recruiter contacted him first. I still wonder why Corey asked the recruiter if he could serve as a gay man, if he wasn't interested. I guess it doesn't matter who contacted who. The bottom line is the recruiter acted like a jerk.
