Why is it relevant that you're white? It really shouldn't matter that you're white. You should try to think of yourself as a person instead of as a white person. That whole idea that skin color puts you into a "race", or makes you a different type of person is so outdated.
I mentioned it because the conversation is about race and racial predjudice.
So in the context of the conversation, I think mentioning my race IS relevant.
The only time I mention race or the color of a person's skin outside of this type of conversation, is when I'm trying to describe someone. In that case, things like skin color, hair color, age range, gender, etc. are kinda handy for the other person to figure out who you're talking about.
Not long ago I was hanging out with some coworkers, maybe 8-10 of us in all. I heard someone say "token white guy" so I kinda looked around and noticed I was the only white guy there. Before that, I had no idea.
I could care less about skin color except when it comes to sexual attraction, I prefer people with darker skin than me. But that's simply a superficial thing that catches my eye. It's not really that important to me past that.
But if y'all want to call me a racist then have at it. I really don't care.

, it's not about skin colour in my case.
