If that was my McDonalds, I would hire all gays. Does that mean I discriminate against straight people? Yes.

Let me preface this by saying that it is not my intention to paint the entire canvas with the same brush:
The problem with most people is that when a job pays AT or NEAR minimum wage, they think it's beneath them. A job is a job is a job; it's an honest earning at the end of the day. It might not be THE job, but it's THE job of the moment. I live in a city where the minimum wage kind of jobs are staffed with people who are great at what they do who happen to be Asians. Is it racist? I don't think so; rather it could possibly be the only viable way that these businesses can thrive in the economy that we are living in.

No it means you're business would be at risk for hiring not the best person for the job, but a staff based entirely on a common demominator.

There are a lot of places in Sydney that seem to hire only asian students etc, they're not hired because they're asian, they're hired because they're the only ones who will work there. There's a "me me I'm the greatest" mentality in a lot of people where they turn their nose up at good honest work.

I think the locals don't want the job or too proud to work there.
That is why so many overseas students work anywhere they can for a low pay job.

I know what you mean. Where I live, every FutureShop is staffed by East Indians. Various other races seem to have cornered the market on other retail stores.

Can you imagine a Caucasian owning a FutureShop and only hiring Caucasian staff?

The thing that galls me is that Canada prides itself on diversity, but what are we to do when the people who immigrate to Canada don’t feel likewise?
