  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

raid at the dallas eagle...

The TABC does these things regularly. They send undercover kids into bars (gay and straight), convience stores, restraurants. Pretty much anywhere liquer is sold to see if your complying.

Of course, considering recent events, this is suspicious.

Although, who isn't to say it isn't common practice for TABC to test bars on their opening night? Stop it before it even becomes a problem.

i'm well aware of the tabc and their practices but what gives me pause is that in a span of 2 weeks 3 gay clubs in the dallas/fort worth area have been targeted. 2 bars by the tabc itself. i don't see them as 'the enemy' rather i think they have become the tool of someone with an ax to grind. i've been along the strip in dallas a few times and i was always amazed at how open the environment was. considering the happenings of late i worry that the open environment i very much appreciated may be in jeopardy.

I understand where you're coming from. And I also think it is suspect what is happening right now.

Hopefully someone gets to the bottom of this to see if this is all legit or if someone is doing this on purpose.

I think what would help is to see how many straight bars are shut down or raiding for violating TABC rules in Dallas in a year, compared to gay ones.

in case anyone was curious...

TABC, Dallas PD say problem with address caused shutdown at Eagle

according to the article the fault lies with the owners of the bar. somewhere along the way they did not get their license in order and moved before all that work was done.

i have to say that i'm relieved to hear this. what with the timing and the other activity that has happened in the last couple of weeks i was really worried that something was underfoot.

Well this was good to hear. Nice to know they were actually just doing their job and not acting in a homophobic manner.

I think two of the biggest issues in American society that is often overlooked is the drinking age. It's bullshit. The 'left' looks to Canada for social policy, so why doesn't anyone mention that 21 is too high? You know, a lot of social liberals support decriminalizing pot, we should also lower the drinking age, and we should also reduce tuition. You can't pick and choose which elements of social democracy you want in your society. We should adopt more European and Canadian social policies in general. It would also reduce our ridiculous incarceration rate.

We get sting operations here in St. Auggie all the time. Man in a briefcase appears out of nowhere to whisk the 20 year old kid away when the bartender refuses to serve him/her.

I don't deal with that shit. Unless you have wrinkly eyes and saggy tits, you ain't gettin a drink without ID.

Edit: now that I read ALL the posts and realize my post is off-topic... FORGIVE ME DAN!

how dare you bring up my wrinkly eyes and saggy tits!

of course you're forgiven. ;)
