Not salty enough or too little skin on it if you find it dry. Most of the juices we taste when we eat is our own saliva - salt is one way to increase this, as is making serving the stuff with skin on it as humans tend to produce more saliva in anticipation of this.

Still I have not eaten meat for years, so typically not that important to me!

Ours was perfect. Again. There is a foolproof way to make the perfect, moist turkey.
Martha Stewart Turkey 101. It is impossible not to have a perfect turkey using this method.

Even a non-meat eater would find it hard to pass up (sorry, couldn't resist)
 
I cooked turkey yesterday and it was delicious. Plenty of butter and then wrapped in bacon to keep the moisture in.
 
^ I use Look oven bags. I discovered them a few years ago and I've never had a dry turkey since, and it roasts in a fraction of the time. No basting, either. The bags do that.

I would imagine if there was no medical necessity then the procedure would be carried out privately. This costs money, that he may not be able to afford.
