If you have other pets, don't do poison.

Put something like this on the outside against the wall. Pets and other animals can't get to the bait when properly closed.

On the inside, use glueboards instead of snap traps. Place a piece of Slim Jim in the center. They like this better than peanut-butter and can smell it from a distance.

Whichever you choose to use, place it alongside the baseboards. Rats don't see very good and tend to run along the edges.

I found the rat yesterday morning, dead, by my back-door. Apparently the place downstairs had poison set.

I had to get my dad to clear it away (he was coming over anyway so it wasn't THAT "gay" of me).

I did a massive clean yesterday, hopefully that's the end of my rat worries.
