Although I'm coming to Southern California in November, I doubt I'll be doing much celebrity-hunting. The Halloween house might be a possibility to see, though. I'm staying in the San Gabriel valley.

I offered my partner the opportunity to go for it.

After we liquidated our farm and everything else for a down payment, I would only need to work harder for another 100 years to clear the mortgage.

For me it would be to lower the overall cost of living, lower taxes, better weather, downsize, climate change

I feel bad for the people that moved due to discrimination.

The South Pas house has great street presence and is on a good street in a very pleasant neighborhood in one of Southern California's best cities. That said, the Halloween association can't be good for marketing.

I've been in the Monroe house three of four times with clients who were interested in buying it but never did. I remember a terrible kitchen addition (from the eighties, I think), and other ill-advised work. The place looked to have suffered from years of negligent owners. For the last clients I discussed bringing the house back to what it was when first built in the 30's, and only updating what needed to be updated. They ultimately backed out, partially because they discovered the house attracted trespassers, but also because they feared the cost of earthquake retrofitting a re-enforced concrete house would prove excessive. The house is in on one of a series of mews-like lanes that have an appealing modesty. It's an area quite unlike anywhere else in the city. At the time I looked at it, Ewan MacGregor lived next door, which would have been a real plus for me.

I have a friend that wants to buy the home in S. Pasadena because it is the Halloween house. lol. She can't afford it though. She has visited it many times.
