Recommend my some great gay films.

All over me
All over the guy
2 seconds
A love to hide (ww2 film)
Amy and Jaguar (ww2 film)
Torch Song
Goldfish Memory (good movie despite the name)
Later Days (kind of lame)
Broken Hearts club

I second (or third) the recommendations of:
Get Real
Beautiful Thing
Sommersturm (Summer Storm)
Far From Heaven
The Broken Hearts Club

I also recommend Shortbus.
And for a laugh, Another Gay Movie - completely ridiculous, but once you accept it for what it is - a gay American Pie - you'll enjoy it a lot more.

sometimes, gay movies have a little bit too much drama for me, so i look for movies that aren't a soul search, gut wrenching, sad, sad tale of woe and horribleness of being gay and coming out. ;)

for comedy (the non-romantic type) check out:

- creatures from the pink lagoon.
imagine a really bad 1950's "b" movie horror flick and make it gay. (i had never seen a gay zombie before this move).

- another gay movie.
a MUCH funnier (and MUCH gayer) version of american pie

- killer condom
genetically engineered condoms chomp off dicks and cause a panic in new york, until an old war-horse gay detective saves the day (and gets the cute boy)

for action/suspense:

- hard
a gay cop tries to catch a gay serial killer before the serial killer catches him.

- burnt money
gay bank heist and hideout movie.

- shock to the system
it's dick tracy, if he were more realistic, lived in modern times and was gay.

Get Real and Head On.

I've been wanting to see that one since it was first released. It's pretty good, huh?
...

it's disturbing as a crime thriller; and that's what make it worthwhile. ..|

"boy culture"
it's set in seattle, good story-line, good eye-candy.

and for the guy who said to avoid "eating out 2" - i agree - but only if you're looking for a story-line.

if you're not in the mood for a story and want to see hunk stud marco dapper's beautiful penis, ball sac, and body, then i'd say rent that one immediately. a must-see. sure it's shallow, but his body and cock make that film pretty damn great.

or, you can save the rental and just look for screencaps of that scene on these boards.
but i also liked seeing him talk and walk and move on-screen.

Love! Valor! Compassion! Trailer

Gregory invites seven friends to spend the summer at his large, secluded 19th-century home in upstate New York. The seven are: Bobby, Gregory's "significant other," who is blind but who loves to explore the home's garden using his sense of touch; Art and Perry, two "yuppies" who drive a Volvo and who celebrate their 14th anniversary together that summer; John, a dour expatriate Briton who loathes his twin brother James; Ramon, John's "companion," who is physically attracted to Bobby and immediately tries to seduce the blind man; James, a cheerful soul who is in the advanced stages of AIDS; and Buzz, a fan of traditional Broadway musicals who is dealing with his own HIV-positive status.

For me, its like eating chicken soup when I'm ill, or cooking my favourite stew when the weather is awful on a cold winter day. There's something about it that comforts me in some way.

I Think I Do

Screwball comedy with a modern twist; instead of Kate Hepburn and Cary Grant, it's Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. Two college roommates (victims of a mutually unrequited love) meet up again five years after school at their housemate's wedding. With the introduction of a Bellamy-esque soap star, the sparks, sexual and verbal, start to fly, as the ex-roommates try to navigate their new romance.

Two of the best are vintage: "Victim" with Dirk Bogarde as a closeted married barrister. was a daring fim made at a time when half the population didn't even know homosexuals existed! "Boys In The Band": In my opinion the best gay movie ever. Released around 1970, it may seem dated in many respects, but it was the first movie where every character (with one possible exception) is gay. It remains the most quotable movie ever (OK, tied with All About Eve).
