Recreational Employment

I was also wondering about the wear and tear on your car. It's probably not a problem at this time, but over a few years it could be. If this is something you enjoy, it is okay. You are doing it for the recreation as you said.

Indeed. If the taxi company I use put such limits on my transportation needs, I'd be fucked. My drug store is 3 1/2 blocks away and I have to take a taxi both ways simply because I can't walk that far. I can't imagine being refused a ride when I can barely get into and out of the van. I always give them a tip, but I'll be damned if I would negotiate the cost of the ride.

Actually with the price of gas, maintenance and car insurance you would loose money on delivery's of that price. And that is not paying yourself anything.

Many of the restaurants have a minimum for delivery, I am surprised Uber Eats doesn't.
 
Aren't there any small business courses, or real estate law/sales courses you could take over the winter?

It'd be a better use of your time, I'd think.

LOL there were a couple $2 delivery requests last night. I looked at the miles I needed to drive and it was around 5-6 miles for each of those.

But this fear could be applied to anything. I needed something from ebay so I bid on it and won. Could have been taking it from someone who really needed it. I filled up gas yesterday. I could have been the straw that broke the camel's back, as in I could have been the one who took just enough gas out of that tank so that the gas station would have a shortage later in the day right at the exact time when a car ran out of gas right there and now that poor bastard got stuck in the cold.

This is not a zero sum game.
 
I would also agree that based on the number of times you have mentioned in different threads that you actually know so little about the business you are in, taking some courses would likely be a better use of your time and possibly make you more money in the longer term than running fast food around town.

But then, I also wouldn't be dumping a whole lot of money and time into a 25 year old car either, so there's that.
 
You haven't given us an update on the ants for a while. Couldn't you use them to generate extra income to pay for their board and lodging?
 
^ Yes, maybe you could bring the ants along on your food deliveries. Manage the colony then while you're waiting at red lights. Every good capitalist knows how to multitask.

They're hibernating right now. Not much to update on.
 
So, I've been working it and refining my strategies. It's actually pretty fun.

A few things I have noticed that I use to up my earnings.

Rich people tip a lot. But they rarely order stuff to be delivered. One time I delivered a single pizza and got tipped 30-some bucks.

Poor people order a lot of stuff to be delivered. But they are lousy tippers. I'm talking like $1 to drive 5 miles.

Best places seem to be middle class working people area. They order a lot and tip pretty decent amounts.

There's a sense of camaraderie between the restaurant workers and the delivery people.

Some trailer parks have no identifying marks on the trailers. It's a pain in the ass to try to find which trailer to deliver to in those areas. I haven't figured out why they don't mark their trailers.

Some people don't wanna meet the delivery person at all.

Anyway, I'm still trying to figure all this out. I think I can refine my strat further and make $1k in a week. It's a challenge.
 
All good, but what is the actual earnings after fuel costs, insurance, wear and tear on a car, taxes and time spent. I.E hourly rate.

About $100 in fuel cost. About 40 actual work time. The app recorded a lot more than that but sometimes I just left it on while I'm just sitting at home. I'm using a junk car to do this. I gave the car away years ago. Recently got it back.
