do you have a fan installed on yours? we have one on ours and have had it over a year. a friend keeps buying them off ebay used and doesn't get a fan and his keep red ringing. i think we got our xbox fan at wal mart. it just snaps onto the back of it.

i think this is the one we have: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Snap-Cooling-Tempterature-Sensor/dp/B001TFDW32"]Amazon.com: Xbox 360 Snap-On Cooling Fan with Temperature Sensor: Video Games[/ame]

as long as u r not modifying the software or adding a mod chip when u take it apart u wont get banned =)

I just had mine fixed under warranty, but it's out of warranty now. I added a fan this time. I'd check online and see if it's under warranty, if not open it up and try a fix. I don't think it's worth the $100 to send it in.

I will never buy another xbox.

get the fan before you turn it on again. better chance of it staying running with the fan. Also if you red ring often it could permanently damage it and then you are screwed.

try putting it in a plastic bag and then in the freezer for like 15 minutes. sometimes that will help with hard drives that have become damaged, but not sure if anyone has tried it with an xbox. the plastic bag is to reduce moisture. then if you got the fan, put that after you take it out and before trying to turn it back on.

Have you tried to submit another repair request to see if it will cost you? Since so many people are still getting fucked, MS may still be replacing them beyond warranty. BTW, the warranty is 3 years now for RROD. So has it been 3 years since your last one?

I heard that you shouldn't use the freezer technique...

What my brother did was mod the inside with some washers on the heat sink and having bought some thermal paste applied it to the bottom of the heat sink. He "re-flowed" it (I think that's what he called it) and it worked like new.

There should be some guides up on tons of xbox forums, and some do it yourself fix the RROD kits online that are not too expensive.

Lastly, if all else fails buy a new xbox360 making sure you have the correct model that fixed the error (the falcon chip model to be exact). Sorry for the long post, but hope that helps.

^ My 3-year warranty expired in April. Yep, as in last-month-April. I swear, those fuckers had the thing rigged to blow.

Tried the freezer technique last night but it was a bust...sent it out for repair this morning. Oh well... :grrr:

I think they really do put an expiration date on the 360. My friend had the same issue his three year warranty expired and that very same day the 360 got the Red Ring of Death on him. I will never buy a 360 until they fix this RRoD.
