Redefining Gay, Straight, and Bisexual

What the fuck?

#-o

This thread fails....

Yes, yes, we've all heard this before: Everyone's bisexual. We can choose our sexual desires. Our sexual orientation is a choice.

Bull....

Why is it bull? And who said it was a choice? I didn't. Just because we start off somewhere and end up on different paths doesn't mean we chose the paths that we're on.

I think it is subliminally indoctrinated into us that sexual desire is black or white. That if you like guys, then you're gay so don't even bother to think about women any more. It's self perpetuating. You never know who the love of your life could be. Unless you've given up on love and only worship physicality, I think it's important to question these things. Why do we make the choices that we do? People should put more value and thought into their decisions, their self limitations, and all of their possible options. That goes for gay and straight, men and women alike.

I don't know much about asexuality, to be honest. I can't really put myself in the mindset of an asexual person other than perhaps by suppressing existing sexual desires for whatever reason. But then, there would still be an underlying sexual desire that is supressed. If you are asexual or know someone who is, please explain it to me.

I know someone who is asexual. It's not that difficult to grasp for me as the person simply is not attracted to either sex; in some cases, some people can perform, however, there is no sexual attraction to the woman or the man.

Celibacy is simply abstaining from sex with an active or voluntarily motivation such as avoiding distractions from a goal or religious reasons. Asexuals, on the other hand, do not have sexual desires; they are not motivated by sexual impulses, by nature.

I suppose I could imagine myself living in a world where everyone was unattractive to me. I mean, it's not a very difficult concept to grasp, but to empathize with a person who has never and will never have a single sexual attraction is beyond me, I think.
