Rediscovering The Golden Girls

I've recently discovered that TVtropolis is now broadcasting back-to-back episodes The Golden Girls each weekday afternoon, and I have rediscovered what a wonderful hour of laughs those girls are.

If the networks still wrote comedy like that, I'd probably still be watching something other than the Discovery Channel and HGTV.

I love the show but can no longer watch it. It was my Mom's favorite and we used to watch it together, she died a few years back and I am still not ready, the fact is that my Mom looked almost like Bea Arthur's twin sister. Lot's of great comedy and memories. Cheers.

I love that show. My brother and I watched it regularly all through high school. Now I only watch it on occasion, mostly because of scheduling but also because i've seen every episode like a hundred times, lol. Still love 'em. I always tell my mom she has to act like Sophia when she gets to be that age and I always joke about sending her to Shady Pines.

But Roseanne is still the absolute best.

If you have the "We" Network (Women's Entertainment. Whee !!! ) on your cable grid, it's practically The Golden Girls Channel....

They're on at least 10 times a day, often back to back.

Even though I have all the dvd's, (on the second shelf between the "Roseanne" and "All in the Family" ones.. ) I still like watching them on broadcast TV...

Maybe because I like knowing that other people are watching them at the same time, or something...

I too have been enjoying the fact that Golden Girls is being re-broadcasted...

If you get DejaView too, they also have an hour block of Golden Girls, very close to when TVTropolis airs theirs, so if lucky, you can get about two hours of Golden Girls...

I've been taking the opportunity to introduce the b/f to the show, when it's on and he's over...And he does indeed enjoy it, so that makes me happy.

There were a few episodes of the Golden Girls that were true classics, but I find I can't really watch reruns of that show the way I can of I Love Lucy.

One of my favorite episodes of GG is when Blanche is fishing for compliments and is unhappy that Rose is being more generous in her praise of Blanche's new dress. Finally Dorothy, in great exasperation, says, "Blanche you look more beautiful tonight than anyone has ever looked in all of history!" And then Blanche, her ego finally stroked sufficiently, chides Rose for being so stingy with her compliments. A classic GG moment!
