Years ago Red River Gorge was a backwoods country secret. Few knew how to get there. At one time a handwritten manual on how to get to certain places was only available by hand me down. One place I hiked to had, you drive down a dead end street that had 5 houses on it. The manual told you to go to the third house knock on the door and ask if you can park in front. There they would tell you how to get to the trailhead, which was an old paved street filled with 20 or so switchbacks to the top. Now imagine coming up to the house and meeting him.
