after years of controversy the Washington Redskins will change their name - it will be official today although due to trademark issues the new name may take a couple of days to be announced....

It's been nearly a year and a half and the "Football Team" still doesn't have a name. If it takes as long for them to come up with a new name as it takes for them to field a good team, it may be a while. I think FedEx has been a joke. When they secured naming rights to the stadium more than 20 years ago, wasn't the Redskin name considered "offensive" then? When the FedEx CEO became part of the team's ownership group, wasn't the Redskin name considered "offensive" then? What changed all of a sudden?
