Refs May be Punished for Using Pink Whistles

The chair of the WOA, Todd Stordahl, told KING 5 News and MyNorthwest.com he has little choice but to discipline officials who used colored whistles. He claims that letting them continue without punishment would send the wrong message to student athletes.

Right. It teaches the student athletes that they need permission to support charitable research or be suspended.

Nice message.

some ppl just can't stand not being total douche bags. "you know what, i haven't done anything overtly douchy today. why don't i go make a big deal about a well organized charity event and look like a total asshole in the process"

Is this what all the "zero tolerance" B.S. has led to in schools. Even if they did break the rules, it was a very minor infraction and their hearts were in the right. A warning would be more than enough. I wish someone bring some common sense back into the schools.

PS - I know this isn't directly a school, but it's the overall environment that schools seem to operate within.

This is ridiculous. The man says that it is sending the wrong message to the kids? Bullshit. Those kids probably don't even realize that the refs didn't have permission to use pink whistles. Hell, they probably don't realize that the refs NEED permission to use pink whistles. And if they did, what's the worst that could come out of it? It could inspire them to stand up for a good cause regardless of the consequences? We NEED that from our youth imo.

I hope all the other refs refuse to work now.

Ugh, I know! Almost like a gay student teacher answering a simple question and getting fired....
