They can work,but you have to remember that HE CAN NOT BE OUT AT ALL. Even his E-Mail can be searched.

you'll have to hide in the closet as his girlfriend in a references to you ,on the phone,e-mail,letters,etc.. especially,if he's posted overseas.

If,you ever meet anyone from his unit your just a friend and must play it straight. If,you live together,it will have to be a 2 bedroom,and your just the roommate.

It can very frustrating to any out guy or a very flamboyant person.

Yes,I have and even when e-mailing gay/bi friends still in the US Military,I have to use the code names when asking about their partners. example "how's is janet?"
