Hurricane Smith - "Who Was It?"

Gilbert O'Sullivan - "Alone Again Naturally"

how remarkably similiar those tunes are - the one i remembered was "alone again, naturally." The other guy was a Muppet Show natural...

ah, thanks for making me feel 10 again (naturally)

Both songs were composed by Gilbert O'Sullivan.

Something must be screwy with my sound -- it sounds like they're singing underwater during an earthquake!

No screwy sound, mate. That's what Hurricane Smith really sounded like. ;)

Early Gilbert ... Remember this GSDX?

That one didn't make it over here. He really didn't become famous on this side of The Pond until "Alone Again Naturally"

We didn't know him in his 'schoolboy' phase.

I only know his song Oh Babe What Would You Say

That was my fave, too, but they didn't have him singing it at YouTube. It was used as a soundtrack for car pics, though. (There was another one with girls in bikinis, but I figured you'd rather look at cars. ;))

Not a schoolboy phase... that is about 6 months maybe a year before the stuff you posted.. I was his 'Edwardian Phase' (King Edward VII 1901 - 1910) ( Flat caps etc)

A Lot of umm pop stars tried to cash in on the ' English' music fashion at that time.

I called it the 'schoolboy' look because it resembled the clothing of our schoolboys over here at the turn of the century. (Gus Pike from CBCs Road to Avonlea.)

Yes I see what you mean... As long as you mean the turn of the previous century and not the last one... :D

As mentioned above, Hurricane Smith had a lot to do with the sound of early Pink Floyd.
It also had a lot to do with the British recording technology lagging far behind that used in the US.
