Hello Boys,
Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado was a loving son, cousin, nephew and friend to so many. Although people may find cultural differences to be the great divider, one thing is universal....love. He was loved by friends, family & classmates. Here is a glimpse of the warm funny shinning light that was put out by hate & ignorance:

I am very shocked and deeply saddened that the major news outlets aren't really carrying this story more (from what I've seen).

I am in or near the verge of tears every time I read about a killing because of their sexual identity...

:(

there will be vigils held all over the country today...contact ur local LGBT organization for information...i know the one in chicago will be in humbodlt park and the one in San Antonio is sponsored by the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center

Don't mean to leave anyone out. We were just discussing Jorge Steven. We will go back to English. Please don't hesitate to post.

Yes, many Puerto Ricans in New York are outraged about this senseless crime. Just yesterday, while I was buying groceries, I overheard an elderly couple discussing what happened. They felt so sorry for Jorge and cursed the monster who did this. Usually it is the older generation who are the most homophobic. I saw a spark of hope that somehow something good could come of this tragedy and compassion could replace homophobia, one step at a time.

They're reporting this on CNN. They just did a tease a minute ago.

They showed the suspect doing the perp walk, footage from the crime scene, and they're doing a phone interview with Pedro Serrano.
