This is going to sound really weird, but..

Today I updated my computer properly on Windows (as in genuine), and ever since I've installed SP2 my monitor has been flickering and turning off for a second, and then back on - This happened about a year ago, and I reinstalled my pirate copy of XP without SP2 and it stopped.

I originally thought it was the monitor and bought a new one, but the problem still occurred until I un/reinstalled XP minus SP2.

Now that I've genuinely updated my XP and installed SP2 I've got this problem again, and to be honest, I cannot deal with it and it's making me upset.
It wasn't flickering after I updated/before I installed SP2 - Can someone please help me?! :( ](*,)

It was working fine before I updated it, and only did-so, so I could get some new updates/programs - Wish I didn't purchase it, and just dealt with it beforehand, now.. Sigh

:-({|=

Have you tried updating to Service Pack 3? I'd give that a try, unless it doesn't work on pirated copies ;)

I'm running the genuine copy of SP2 NOW! This is where my problems begin! #-o
Originally went to install SP3, but it auto-installed SP2, which I thought was rather weird; guess I'll give it another try..

EDIT: Just un-installed SP2 and the flickers/problems have stopped - Guess there was a glitch somewhere?! Will see if I can update to SP3 later; I need a break, lol.

maybe on the pirate copy of XP has drivers for your monitor/graphics card, the new one may have drivers for it but they maybe newer which sometimes can cause problems, if your using a graphics card, try rolling back to older drivers or updating them. if your not then try updaing your motherboard drivers or revert back to older ones.

i don't know if this will help, worth trying either way.

There have been installation problems with SP3.
On one computer I tried several times without success.......even in safe mode.......then one day it just installed.....go figure......
I had trouble on my main computer too.......but it finally installed itself........ #-o

If You got HP computer with AMD you have to download an update to stop it from shutting off and rebooting over and over after installing SP3
But I would Try Downloading SP3 again
then check drivers for moniter etc

Possum: Yeah that has been a big problem. We've had a few in for repair with that problem.

Mills: If it were me I'd install from scratch using a SP3 XP install disk. Do you have the OEM Windows sticker on the side? If so let me know and I'll get you a disk. Also check for any other Windows update (Non urgent too) and also graphics card website for updated drivers.

Safe man, thanks a lot.. I think the problem was the GFX card because I noticed an error message earlier, but clicked it away too fast (as I wasn't paying THAT much attention) #-o !oops!

It's late now, but I'll get all the info and a screen-cap tomorrow. :-) ..|
