While I didn't agree with his politics, it is sad that congress is now lacking his knowledge and presence. Regardless of what you thought of him, it is a sad day and our hearts should go out to his friends and family.

Sorry, he died . . . but Murtha was a poster child of crooked and special interest congressmen.

He was the type of person that we don't need in the US Congress.

Please don't bring that in here. Even though he may have done some questionable things in his later years, he was still a human being and DID do things that should be lauded. As I said in the original post, even though I didn't agree with him, he will be missed.

True, Very True! Sorry for his family, but he needed to have spent his last days OUT of Congress.

I am sorry for his passing. He is to be admired for spending so much of his life serving the people.

I respect his life of public service and his military service.

But I find it difficult to forgive his calling our brave fighting men cold blooded killers.

That I cannot respect.

My condolences to his family.

And condolences as well to the loss suffered by the southwestern Pennsylvania district where he used his position in Congress to direct billions of Federal funds in pork or earmarks or whatever you want to call it.

I agree. I count five of our members who have been out of line here. Regardless of all the rest, Rep. Murtha served our country in the military and served his district and our nation in Congress for more than thirty-five years. He spent more years in public service than many of us have been alive. We are grateful for that service.

Sorry for his family but in his later years he was no friend of the men in uniform.
