Republican debate audiences turning off voters

As for the 2 to 1 in favor of the death penalty, that is true at this time, but I expect that to change in the near future. I have been getting all kinds of requests for changing the law to unconstitutional. Besides that, there are a dozen, it seems like, that are totally disgusted with the murder of Troy Davis.

Here's the problem with the folks who are allegedly opposed to the death penalty. They aren't consistent, so they really aren't opposed to the death penalty. Only when it suits there purposes.

In think we saw an inkling of it from you yesterday, when you were given pause about Brewer being put to death. A death penalty opponent makes no distinction between someone who is obviously guilty, like Brewer and someone where there may be a question like Davis. you either vigorously oppose the death penalty, or you don't.

There were no mass demonstrations at Brewer's execution. Why? Because he was not deemed to be a good example of the kind of people the anti-Capitol punishment crowd wants to be seen defending. Yet, if you are truly opposed to Capitol punishment, you cannot ignore someone simply because you find them repugnant. You make the argument with the same vigor you would for Davis, or even Timothy McVeigh. Another one the anti's seemed to forget about becuse it didn't suit their purposes.

The anti's are doomed to fail because they lack the courage of their convictions.

Aside from the spin uber liberal MSNBC puts on things, the audience should not be part of the discussion. They should be instructed to remain silent except for applause at the end of the event.

This is about candidates and what they would do. Not about what nameless audience members think or say.

but they weren't so instructed and exposed their TRUE colors which I think those who watched the debates may jump to the conclusion that ALL REPUBLICANS share their hatred, ignorance, etc. I do. I'm an Independent who watched to stay informed and was floored by the audience responses at some of the debates. Since no one, I MEAN NO ONE -- not from the audience nor the candidates raised a hand to say "wait a minute" and correct that negative impression, I'm left with the thought that that's just the way Republicans like it -- all republicans. It was shameful to see a serviceman in a combat theatre booed by Americans here at home. Shameful.

another quick thought -- right now when I hear the word Republican - the first thing that hits my mind is an image of the goose stepping Nazis in their grey uniforms. Evil doers and republicans are becoming very close to be synomous -- image wise anyway.

Sorry, several of the Republician candiates have already made it a point to suck up to the Family Research, a well known hate group.
That says all I need to know about them and the people who back them.

You have fallen behind in your reading. I was caught on it by Sausy on the 23rd. I'm having trouble with my PC in trying to link to other threads, so I will cut and paste that post.

On the same day Troy Davis was executed,so was in Texas, for that matter one of those white supremacists who dragged James Byrd to his death, without mercy or humanity for his suffering. Is that man's death justice or equally abhorrent? If Troy Davis was not guilty of his crime,if the genetic testing doubts were really of such a nature to require holding off and re-looking at his case....his execution was a travesty. But the white supremacist executed there were absolutely NO such doubts of his guilt or responsibility...is the death penalty ALWAYS wrong, even if the person executed is no doubt responsible for the crime?

my post #9 9/23/2011
Ok, you have forced me to change my mind. If I'm gonna say that it was wrong to execute Troy Davis, then I have to say the white supremest should not have been executed. If I'm going to be against the Death Penalty, then I have to be against all of them.
Thanks for waking me up.

The behaviour of the Americans who attend these hate rallies is on the television for all the world to see.

I have to tell you that in other parts of the world, many are just appalled at what they are witnessing.

Is it just a case that the US is so full of hate that if they don't have a world stage to vent it on that it has to be turned back on itself???

Um, yes. In fact, it's turned back on itself whether or not it gets vented on the world stage. All the world stage sees is the spill-over. !oops!

The U.S. is full of hate because of our Puritan heritage. The UK should bless God daily that those stiff-necked, judgmental cretins left. America can lament daily that their ship didn't sink on the crossing.

YES, but i think what shocked most people is that the boos etc. were clearly heard by the candidates (maybe ROn Paul is part deaf, he gets a pass) and they said nothing or didnt even condemn it in facial expression or a shake of the head. The candidates Non-response was the shocker not the crazy republican audience.
and MSNBC does spin, but there are many who dont watch MSNBC and they still were surprised by these shocking moments. They dont require spin!

I am not so shocked at the audiences behavior. Look at the ones they admire and vote for.

The actions of the Republicans are appalling! The Congressman who called the President a 'liar' during his SOTU address, non attendance/participation when the President does speak. Where is the due respect? Their acts are no better than bullies in the playground. Whatever happened to integrity and setting an example?
