To all JUB cable/dish subscribers:

If you happen to be watching CNN tonight (8:00 EDT I think), please check in here with your reactions. If you choose to do something more interesting and worthwhile, I'll understand. ;)

Any idea if it will be streamed online? I don’t have cable.

I'm sure I'll hear the highlights over news radio...I doubt it's worth the time watching it live - couple of clowns duking it out for the losing spot in 2012. Really, as much as I disagree with some things Obama has done, this is already his election to lose.

I'm not going to vote for any of those people so I'm not watching. I would just end up yelling at the TV. I watched an interview with John Huntsman over the weekend and he's the only republican in the field I've had any kind of positive reaction to, but he's not in the debate. I don't know that much about him though.

So far they just seem to agree on everything (since I started watching).

They are saying a lot of unfounded stuff.

"Right. Right. Right."

John King, debate moderator

This guy is really annoying.

go go religious tolerance.

I assume you wouldn't have voted for JFK because he was a Catholic?

edit: not watching it myself. I'll probably read coverage of it tomorrow morning in the news, but my cable has been broken for like 2 months.

Obviously the issue he was referencing was the heavy, concentrated support Mormons recruited for Prop 8. Why vote for someone who supports a group that doesn't just implicitly hate you, but actually goes out of their way to kill your liberties?

most religious people don't agree with 100% of what their organization preaches... Huntsman himself has never come across like a fundamentalist to me and, in fact, supports civil unions.

it seems kinda like voting against a pro-choice candidate because they're Catholic.

Fair enough point, just explaining where lostlover is coming from in his comment. :-)

It probably doesn’t mean much, but I watched online with an audience reaction scroll laid over my screen. Without them saying what audience’s reaction I was watching I noticed the only time the audience disagreed (went below the neutral line) was when talking about equal rights. It only showed Republican and Independents reactions so this leaped out at me.

Yet again Bachmann proves she is a total idiot and needs a remedial civics class.

“John, I do support a constitutional amendment on marriage between a man and a woman,’’ she told the moderator, John King of CNN, “but I would not be going into the states to overturn their state law.”

So is Harry Reid. So what?

It is a fundamentalist Christian issue: for all intent and purposes, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is in their estimation, a cult. When we had the separation of church and state, one's beliefs wouldn't come into play. ](*,)

This is what the GOP has to choose from? I almost feel bad for them.

Based on your description of it when DID we have separation of church and state?

BTW was the church separated from the state or did our founding fathers not want the State fucking with Church? Just curious how you view that based on historical precedence.

It's not my view. There are numerous cases - displaying the Ten Commandments in a court of law, for example. I can name others but my law clerk has the day off. In the meantime, check the U.S. Constitution, First Amendment. Also, Google "divine right of kings." By the way, why are you so defensive? Chill.

P.S. "did our founding fathers not want the State fucking with Church?" Please post an example of this occurrence. What do you mean exactly by, "fucking with the church?"

idk, is it just me or does this debate seem super early?

there are still likely candidates that aren't in the race yet and many candidates that obviously have no chance.

Have no fear. There will be more, ad nauseam.
