Well Republicans took control of both houses in NH based on the outcome of the Nov elections, and this is the result.

If you vote Republican, not only will they oppose any new equal rights for gays, they will move to take away whatever existing rights you may have.

How gay people still cannot see this is beyond me.

And cue Jack Springer, Pixel, FastEddy, Chance, Supersix and Latka to come rushing to the defense of the Republican'ts.

Until DADT is repealed, this shit will keep happening.

I think that a lot of homo marriage opponents understand as well that if homos can serve openly in the military it is the beginning of the end for the fundamentalist control of the social agenda.

Well, all the homos in NH can just move to Massachusetts.

The sickening thing to me is that they operate from the standpoint that it's some type of choice, failing to realize that everytime the walk past a hospital nursery 10% of those babies are gay. Turning one's back on family, friends and neighbors sounds a lot like the Jewish question in Nazi Germany. I also think they're cunts for calling discrimination a social agenda. It seems to me to be an anti-social agenda.

Again, I'd like to apologize to the universe for EVER calling myself a Republican.

I was young and foolish...forgive, please?

The last time I voted for a Republican, he ended up in the slammer. I rest my case. !oops!

This is what we get when the vogters gave the GOP the majority in 2010.

Those retards keep voting the Republicans in. Living proof some people are unteachable.

They're the people who touch the wall when there's a wet paint sign. They'll place their hand on a hot burner when you tell them not to do it. Pathetic.

Remember though, 26 of the 39 Republicans who last year voted against repeal are still in office (12 didn't run again, while one switched parties and lost reelection). All 4 of the Democrats who voted for repeal were not reelected. If you do the math, we only need 5 more Republicans to avoid a fillibuster proof majority (out of the more then 100 new ones, and that's not even counting any of the existing ones who are now more likely to switch).

Also, if gay marriage is repealed in New Hampshire, expect a flood of lawsuits to come (Perry v Schwarzenegger-esque).

With equality in NH resting on phrases like that, the future for gay marriage in NH is tenuous at best.

Perhaps you forgot the New Hampshire state house has 400 members. Five out of 250+ is not difficult at all. Also, I heard reports that 13 of the new Republicans are self-discribed "libertarians" who likely will vote against repeal.

Nope. But I also haven't forgotten how when a Republican says they will support gay rights, history has shown us that that doesn't always make it so, as the recent votes on DADT certainly have reminded us. They will frequently come up with an excuse to vote against us if given sufficient pressure by their intolerant leadership (and the incoming state house leader is a total bigot).

The DADT vote was about many other things too (not having "sufficient" debate time, wanting to get the tax extentions done first, etc.).

Like I said, 5 out of over 250 is not unlikely at all.

well it's always something. Few people are just going to come out and say "I hate gay people". That's not politically wise. But that is the motivation for many, even if they put up other reasons publicly.

Well they do hate gay people, it may not be politically correct to call homophobic people gay haters, but its accurate. I'm just waiting for a moderator to remove this post, proves my point.

Huh? The Republicans will continue trying to do things like this long after DADT is repealed.

But it won't be as effective. And they'll have no grounds for support.

Trust me on this. Gays in the military will be the sea change that will render the fundie right wing impotent.

That would be great but I just don't see it. I think they will continue to have serious influence on gay issues for another decade or more.

Perhaps when gay marriage is legal in the entire US their efforts to take away rights will start to subside a bit. I don't see it happening before then.
