So far O'Donnell is winning in DE and and Lamontagne in NH.

Neither of these far right leaning Tea Party type candidates polls well in the general election, while the more moderate establishment Republican likely wins both of these races for the GOP against the Dem.

Add this to Angle's debacle, and this is likely 3 Senate seats the Republicans are going to lose because they nominated radicals.

yup... been sayin that for a few months now.

But ya know... I got it from the Maddowster ..|

The Foxpublicans™ will probably pick up a couple of seats in November in the Senate.

Personally, I find Reid a flaccid, inept, ineffective, Senate leader. It wouldn't hurt my feelings any to see him get tossed. He's nearly useless.

Assuming the Dems lose 2 or 3 seats as I predict, and still in full control of the Senate then either VP Biden or the Senate leader needs to revoke the filibuster from the rules at the start of the new session. The rules vote only requires an up or down vote and will neuter asshats like Ben Nelson, and Liebertard. They can then be thrown to the wolves to be ripped apart politically.

You would rather have Angle?

Are you high?

Reid, for whatever flaws he has is a progressive who supports gay rights. Angle is a rabid Christian conservative who thinks gays are evil, and thinks gambling is evil while she will be representing Las Vegas, lol. Angle is a total kook.

Reid was a bad choice from the get go, but he wont be beaten by angle and that will only make him dig in deeper as the leader of the senate.

He is out of sync with the frenetic, high energy Pelosi and they never worked well together.

It's fine if Reid wins, but I do not under any circumstance want him returning as Senate majority leader if I had my druthers. Pelosi, and her House has done the heavy lifting and passed virtually all of the progressive bills we needed her to, nearly a year ago! She did her job, and got it done! Reid has done nothing other than drag his feet. He didn't have the balls to make Foxpublicans actually have to stand up, and filibuster as the procedure was established. No, instead he only required the threat of a filibuster, that he would collapse, like a cheap TV tray. He's such a pussy.

absolutely

the senate is the problem, not the house. Pelosi has been one hell of a speaker.

The senate has always tended to be slower, but at times reid acts like a rank amateur. He has so much to get through and he plays footsy with those idiot republicans as if they really are negotiating in good faith.

what a waste of time. He should have known better.

Won't happen. Moderate democrats (and I'd wager a few of the less-moderate dems) will not vote for such a rule change, and such an attempt would only reinforce the negative view of the party in power in the minds of many americans. (remember how negatively americans reacted to Republicans proposing the same thing)

It just won't happen, and Obama wouldn't let it.

Also, I think you're being fairly conservative in your estimate of the number of seats dems will lose. They could lose as many as 8 (what with the tea party insanity going on in DE and NH), though realistically I'd expect 6.

if the repubs pick up half of the available seats It will be a good night for them

they wont get close in the senate

Republicans are being smart.

Kicking the Rhino-republicans out of the party. And it's about time.

True Reagan conservative Republicans is what the party needs to take back the country.
No, True Goldwater Conservative Republicans is what the party needs to take back the country, not the current Moral Majority, ban abortion, ban gays, Christians-and-Jews-only GOP.

or Libertarians.

And it's RINO ;)

Republicans are being smart.

First dumb post in this thread. And it doesn't surprise me at all who it's from, lol.

Republicans have killed their chances of taking back the Senate with these candidates.

no no

the gentleman from new york is actively campaigning for it I think....

Mr Schumer... and he would not be easy for the republicans to game the way they have Reid.

Are you sure he would support something like DOMA Repeal?

Maybe not, but at least he is supporting DADT repeal right now. Angle surely wouldn't.

Sure he has some negatives, was just responding to the suggestion that it wound't be bad if he lost, cause Angle would be far worse.

First is quoted for truth, then two words added for further truth.

Perhaps the best political analyst, Stuart Rothenberg has moved Delaware from Lean Republican [pickup] to Lean Democratic [party hold].

One night may have changed it all.

Here is the link, and an important quote:

http://rothenbergpoliticalreport.com/news/article/delaware-senate-race-moved-to-lean-democrat

Castle had broad appeal, including to independents and even Democratic voters, while O’Donnell’s appeal is limited to tea party conservatives. Lacking an impressive resume and unlikely to garner significant national Republican support, O’Donnell clearly looks like an underdog against New Castle County Executive Chris Coons (D), who is suddenly transformed to the favorite in the general election.

If this turns out to be the case, Team Red will feel burned if Republicans don't flip Delaware with upset nominee Christine O'Donnell (Joe Biden's 2008 challenger, she received 35.31% while he garnered 64.69% while getting elected vice president). For a year, at-large congressman Mike Castle was assured a Republican pickup (and probably would have been, anyway, had Del. Atty. Gen. Beau Biden opted to run on the Democratic ticket. So this may really be something!

I'm all for Schumer. Schumer would be a much more forceful figure than Reid has ever appeared to be. How, with a super-majority, did he manage to get so little done?

he did not have a super majority. He was one vote short and the republicans voted in block form entirely every time. It was 59- 41 to end the fillibusters every time.

60 - 40 was needed. remember kennedy died before the big pieces of legislation were finished.

Does anyone think O'Donnell is going to run on her anti-masturbation platform as strong as runs on the anti-tax platform?

lol, she's going to bury that stuff as much as she can. But she has a myriad of other problems too, like the fact that she can't even manage her personal finances and has to embezzle from her campaign.

And she thinks gays can be "cured" of their disease haha.
