I don't understand the hype about this movie, a friend lent me the DVD and I just skipped through various scenes because the whole drug topic is so played out.

I like the camera work, but prefer Pi the movie much more.

This movie made me cry. lmao I don't cry at movies but one scene in particular just got me. One of my favorite movies...that i never watch cuz it's depressing.

It's one of my favorites as well... Absolutely unforgettable.

Even the title screen on the DVD is creative.

Ms. Burstyn was *robbed* of that Oscar, she really deserved it. That was a role that could have easily gone over the top into unbelievability, but she pulled it off brilliantly.

It was a great movie. Just to dark for me to see a second time. I like happy movies in my life.

watched this with a friend of mine....we didn't say a word for 10 minutes after the credits rolled...then talked about it for an hour after that.... this movie is a must see for everybody.

I wake up at least one day a week with the music from this playing in my head.

And it doesn't stop you using hard drugs... If you didn't know the consequences of hard drugs by the time you were old enough to go rent a movie with that rating, you're an *idiot*.

But on the subject of the actual movie - I adore it. It's amazing. Especially the scene where Harry and Marian are lying on the floor, high, and she says "I love you Harry. You make me feel like a person." And Harry says "Marian, you are the most beautiful girl in the world. You are my dream." - and they're not even looking at each other.

The juxtaposition between dialogue and actual physical positioning of the actors is intense.

Personally I thought it was a little melodramatic. I mean, I'm sure drug addiction can be bad, but that bad? Come on.

"Remember kids, don't do drugs." Would have been alot more to the point than watching fictional characters get hooked and become hoe's and have electroshock and all that ish that went down in there.

I LOVE :luv: this movie. I would also say its one of the best films I have ever seen. A shame it did not win best picture at the Academy and bollocks for Julia Roberts winning best actress when it should have gone to Ellen Burstyn.

Screw you Hollywood!

I always thought this film should be shown to High School kids instead of the Al Gore garbage they might be subjected to.
