Resident Evil 5 [MERGED]

Re: RESIDENT EVIL 5!!! Chris Returns...

ZOMG Capcom is TEH RACIST!!!!!

Resident Evil 5
on July 31, 2007
Category: Racism, Africa

The new Resident Evil video game depicts a white man in what appears to be Africa killing Black people. The Black people are supposed to be zombies and the white man’s job is to destroy them and save humanity. “I have a job to do and I’m gonna see it through.”

This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people.

R_N,

Yes… I am more comfortable with the zombies being white. In fact, ALL zombies should be white from this day forth.

THAT betch is the racist! ](*,)

Re: RESIDENT EVIL 5!!! Chris Returns...

Like 100% of the 100+ comments defend the game and yeah da bitch is racist!

Re: RESIDENT EVIL 5!!! Chris Returns...

I quite like how RE5 is panning out. Although it does indeed borrow the 'hyper zombie' rule from 28 DAYS and also the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD, I think this actually will help make the game better that 4 and indeed 3. By having quick thinking enemies that can attack you with reasonable intelligence makes it better than the simple lurching zombies that could be taken down with only a couple of shots, where as in 5 it seems you really have to be on your toes and keep moving in case you get surrounded too quickly or people start hurling more shit at you at 100 miles a minute.
I am glad they are bringing back Chris in this one as he was a very cool character in 1 and CODE VERONICA, and by the looks of things they have certainly beefed up his weapon handling and have him using hand to hand combat to help when things get a little tight. The girl at the end of the video does indeed look like Sherry, so either that means Wesker and Ada are in on this one or that she is trying to track down chris or indeed claire on her own agenda. Either way it will be interesting to see how this Sherry character plays into things.
I am hoping that the tension and true scares that you got from the first three games are put back into focus, and that the combat segments are evenly spaced out so that they do not loose their novelty too quickly. That was one of my main beefs with 4 in that the combat was too heavy handed and there was not enough true RE scares with the zombies that seemed to come out of nowhere as they did in the original PS games.
Another thing I am holding out for is for a more interactive environment, where you can find basically anything to use as a weapon against the zombies and be able to use your surroundings more to your advantage when you get into a large group confrontation or boss situation. BY giving you more combat options in part with the new environment it would give 5 more replay value and thus make this a good long term investment rather than a quick one play through. Being able to find ammo and weapons on enemy corpes would be good too to help keep your stocks up and get more advantages when you kill a whole heap of them in one go.
In fact, one of my fave moments in 3 was when you unlocked the MERCENARIES mini game. You could play all these cool characters and fight your way through hordes of zombies and earn new weapons, first aid kits and heaps of other useful stuff while at the same time unlock some new characters as well. Hope they include another mini game similar to this in 5.

Re: RESIDENT EVIL 5!!! Chris Returns...

I'm glad Alyssa Court is playing Yoko she played the original Yoko in the first Outbreak game. Unlike that other bitch who played the voice over for Yoko in File 2 which sucked ass!

Re: RESIDENT EVIL 5!!! Chris Returns...

I think people are crying racism because they remember films like Zulu and Black Hawk Dawn which, to an extent, depict Africans as faceless hordes of gun fodder.

Movies like those two are rightfully reguarded dubiously today, but Resident Evil's point isn't to make a comment about war. It's a game put in a realistic setting. Normally games are centred around white American inidividuals -to place a game ikn Africa in an African community means there will likely be authentic African characters, which can only be a good thing.

Plus we've had faceless hordes of city-dwellers and villagers for years in Resident Evil. Shooting villagers in a realistic way is likely to make some people feel uncomfrtable, but that's because it pricks old wounds, not because it's intrinsically racist.

Re: RESIDENT EVIL 5!!! Chris Returns...

ill prob have it cause im prob gonna get an xbox for halo3 .....wii awsome...but barly and online play so far. .....
is not RACIST, people are just dumb
its a zombie game franchise.

Yeah nobody bitched about Kenneth being eaten by a zombie in the first Resident Evil.

There are not that many pics, trailers or new details for the new Resident Evil 5, so I thought I might get a thread going on what you fellow players and RE fans would want in a game, whether it be RE 5 or a new completely different one. I personally would like to see or have optional -

- Being able to use two handguns at once, ala Dante with Ebony and Ivory in DMC.

- Your co op partner actually is useful. Instead of always getting in the way and only being used for small missions to get items they can perhaps be made able to use one of your weapons to help fend off the zombies, with perhaps a special move being made available for a big combo finish to tackle large crowds of zombies.

- A new mode in which your character has to complete the game completely buck naked, save for their underwear, so their body takes a lot more damage and more prone to death, with another option perhaps of being able to see your guy totally naked in another mode when you get a high score. When you see the new Chris in RE5 you'd agree with me on this LOL.

- Have zombies back in the RE world and not these gandos or laplagas, but have them more bad ass and harder to kill. Have them being made to be able to take stuff around them and throw them at you, work better as groups to surround and corner you into a tight spot, with perhaps some even able to scale across the sides of walls really fast and jump from roof to roof in persuit of you.

- Weapon system being upgradable like RE4, but with the empathis of having to find more of the parts around the place rather than buying them at the store. On that note too, bring back the ability to make your own ammo from RE3 so you can make acid or fire rounds or completely new abilities all together.

- Bring back the Lickers. They were one of the best creatures to come out of RE2 and they are also still the hardest things to kill if you don't know how to handle them or have a powerful enough weapon.

- This is a personal want, but I would love it if hand to hand combat was made available to you even if you got a loaded weapon. I'm not talking about going all Alice on us in the RE films, but have your character able to know some sort of martial arts of self defence moves so he or she can get out of a tight situation if they are caught with little ammo and little moving space. Added to that, it would be so cool to be able to snap a zombies neck like HUNK is able to in the mercenaries mini game in part 4.

- Also, with in that regards, perhaps make it possible to have your character's strength, abilities and skills upgradable by either a point system or scoring rank to how many kills you get per level.

- More secret rooms and areas to discover that bring back great replay value.

- Have a whole level set in the catacombs. It would be so creepy to drudge through this underground labrynth, waist deep in murky water and surrounded by coffins, rats and dead bodies and skeletons, when BAM !! Zombies and creatures start coming out through the walls, under the water and from the coffins. The closed space, coupled by the short light source, would make a really creepy and hectic level.

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

What we need to put in Resident Evil is the actual conclusion to the series. We need to get to the bottom of this whole thing.

I thought it was originally going to be Alfred and Alexia Ashford from reading the preview of Code Veronica, but I guess their family was the Creators of Umbrella, and they weren't really involved with the Global Operations in Modern times.

We need to get to the bottom of who is really pulling the strings in Umbrella, which is totally unbelievable that these people in real life wouldn't have been brought to justice at this point ...

and Wesker needs to finally die at the end.

I love the series, but it needs to come to an end.

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

OT:
There's some big contraversy because RE5 is going to be set in Hati or Africa... or so the rumor goes but Capcom is not confirming it. You can read about it at Kotaku. It's very interesting. IDK if this has come up in another thread here.... sorry if it's a repeat.

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

I loved RE4.

I loved the setting, the village and forest.

I think the new desert setting is cool too.

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

What? When was Sherri abducted? Somebody get me up to speed here? To be honest, I lost interest when 4 came out, and wasn't following the series as much as I used to, but I still obviously care about it.

I did see the preview of 5 and am very impressed with what I saw thus far. I actually did play some of the beginning of 4, but never finished it. I just couldn't get into the gameplay, but I know a lot of people said it was the best one of the whole series. I don't know. The original one, Code Veronica, and the 2nd one still rank among my favorites.

But, yeah, what happened to Sherri? When was she abducted?

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

You mean, besides the zombies, mutated beasts and plants, giant, pulsating blobs of flesh, amazing characters, freaky ass levels that make you jump, special controllers to make it feel cooler, and a plot that you could sink your teeth into???

What else could you ask for????

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

Heres the trailer for RE5 I cant wait it looks good!

I did hear some rumors and I hope someone can clarify for me... Jill Valentine is in the game and you will need to rescue her. Is she the mysterious lady at the end of the trailer or could it be Sherry. Also the main monsters are a mix of las plagas and zombies!

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

How did that Chris Redfield turn into that Chris Redfield?
...I'm not complaining. But buck naked? Fat chance...sadly.

I think a co-op mode (with two real life players) would actually make the series a lot better. If they just added that to the gameplay of Resident Evil 4, I'd be happy.

Theres rumors that Jill is in the game and will help you during the game, I hope its true but then again its just a rumor.

Re: What Would You Put In A Resident Evil 5 game ?

There's always room for more cowbell, and maybe some mutated cows!

As for the trailer, looks sick, although I myself would have made a home-made claymore and started cleaving, but that's just me.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I see they changed the location back to Africa, or they never changed it to begin with. Marley, please tell me that you don't think this is racist, and people are causing a big stink over nothing with this crap.
