Resident Evil: Extinction

For me RE 2 was an amazing game - great storyline, involving characters and I liked the idea that, although you are essencially playing the same scenario on both disks, both claire and leon have various differences in their respective routes that make it not a bore to play through. Plus, I loved the bonus characters of HUNK and TOFU, as they were a challenge to play and also liked how you could upgrade your weapons more often later on by playing the special characters.
RE 3 and RE CODE VERONICA were very good graphic wise, but out of the two RE 3 is the only one I play over again, mainly because I heart the Jill Valentine character and think she is one of the better characters to come out of the RE world, and the whole NEMESIS scenario of it chasing you through out the game was a refreshing, as well as nerve racking, addition. Especially when you first play thorugh it without the grenade launcher or any real idea of where and when he will pop up. An interesting take on the whole zombie and boss idea in the game I thought and hope to see the nemisis pop up again in another game down the track.
RE 5 I've heard looks to be slated for the PS 3, and like many of you I have only scene the small trailer of the guy walking through a broad daylight town area that looks suspiciously like Iraq. I think the guy in the trailer may be Carlos from RE 3, and perhaps this game Jill and Chris will pop up again in the series. The interesting idea the trailer spawns though is the idea or running zombies in broad daylight, as it should be good to see how they will make it work and would be effective if they manage to pull it off right, ala 28 DAYS LATER I reckon.

YOu guys thought Zero was easy?

What setting did you play it on? ;)

I had a helluva time with that game, in favt somethign that impeded me the most was the fact I had dropped an item somewhere and NO idea where I put it.

It was only till months and I mean MONTHS later did I realise it showed you where you left stuff on the map.

.....Fucking lighter fluid.

And Yes Crimson Heads are the bane of my existence.
I didn't see that coming at all, then I read the memo... and was like "I got some serious burning to do" Problem was I missed that memo, and some stayed around for quite some time.... scared me shitless when the fuckers got up.

I played it on normal, beat the game the same day I bought it.

I already knew about the crimson heads and you needing to burn them. I got the hint that you needed to use the gasoline and the lighter to burn them. Yeah if I had the game I would of posted some videos. But I did post some videos of me playing it back when I had a Gamecube, and recorded it using VHS. Yes some of these videos are horrible quality.

And saved the best for last. I think I was a lucky motherfucker with this video.

I mostly want to see it just because Ali Larter is in it. All the trailers I've scene had a whole lot of daylight in them. Hopefully there is some night stuff too because night makes RE you know?

I think RE 4 and RE5 break a lot of rules, the mood wise rules. They have parts where it's still mid day just like EP said. Resident Evil was during the night, Resident Evil 2 was the night, Resident Evil 3 was the night, Resident Evil CODE: Veronica has some points where it's during the day.

Also Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 has this thing with daylight. I guess it sets a point where you think night time might be hell, but when it's day time it's just the same.

I guess what I'm trying to say Resident Evil's night time atmosphere helped make the game scary because you didn't know what might come out from a dark corner. When levels or parts of the game contain day light scenes you kind of feel different towards your surroundings and know when a zombie will be around the corner. Kind of like Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 the Flashback level the entire level is set during a foggy day but there is no contact from life, and pretty much no communication except for a broken down abandon hospital.

Plus it seems that Leon is all the girls and guys (gay guys) favorite good looking character. I want more of Barry Burton.

I loved the first movie. I liked the second one but not as much as the 1st. The second one had a "night of the comet" feel. I love that 80's movie but it is campy.

I bought that movie on DVD, it just came out too. LOVE to death!

I liked Extinction. Better than Apocalyspse because it didn't try to be too flashy. I still liked the first one the best though.

And Claire was way underused. Maybe they should've just left the character out.

I haven't seen the third movie yet, but I have to say that Nemesis looked utterly horrible in the second. And not in the good way...

(Oh. I also should mention that I don't really like the Resident Evil movies.)

So I finally saw it. ONE was AMAZING. 2 was total crap I thought.. Jill was so horrible and fake "I'm good, but I'm not that good." (dumbest line ever) And undead coming up from the graveyard was way corny.. all the characters seemed doomed to die since they sucked at personality.

Glad that Extinction wasn't as corny, although it had its moments. I wish Paul Anderson would have just directed the last two....

The movies storylines blow in my opinion... they are so random its like.. why even have the resident evil name? Its all about this new character 'Alice" and only throws in other characters to reference the fact that its RE. They should have followed the book series as the basis of the movies.. would have been better I think

I really want to see it, but it's not out until 12th October, here, dammit! :grrr:

I thought it was pretty good and much better than the second one...|

Now that it is number 1 at the box office and grossed higher than the first two on opening weekend I wonder if Sony is going to reconsider this being the final one. Originally Paul wanted a fourth film and wanted it to be the last.

My roommate and I are rabid fans of the games. Played through every one of them so far. The changes they made from the genre (when they went to RE:4) were important to make sure the games didn't become stale and just the same lab exploding over and over again.

We like the movies but there are things that bother us about it.

We can't understand why they bothered to put in characters from Resident Evil at all. None of them were in the first movie, the "mansion" was entirely different. All the stories revolve around Alice which is fine fun character, but why bring the other characters from the series when all they have to offer is cosplay.

Also remember when Carlos was Spanish, had an accent, and was fun and flirty with Jill? Whoops. (Not to say that Carlos was bad in apocalypse and extinction but... it wasn't Carlos)

I think that the second and third games would've translated very well to a movie. The second game had interesting characters, (the police chief, ben the reporter, Ada Wong, William, Annette and Sherry Birkin) and if they removed the puzzle solving aspect of running through one end of the police station to the other it could've been great. (Discovering the conspiracies of the police chief, finding out Umbrella being behind it)

I enjoyed it quite a bit, like E. Pro I forgive the movies not being like the games a lot easier than many fans. Although I really wanted to see more Wesker.

I loved the first movie, so so on the second and probably so so again on the third. it didn't seem to follow a very good story line to me. i didn't like the ending at all, way to abrupt. it also wasn't really an ending...not that it had to be, but i don't know i just didn't like that ending.

I for one, never got into Resident Evil 4. I didn't like the controls, and actually prefer the classic ones. The original Resident Evil was my favorite. I actually found it to be the hardest since it supplies you with the least ammo. 2 was my second favorite, followed by Code Veronica and then Resident Evil 3 (which I wasn't a huge fan of, but it was ok).

I actually liked the one Umbrella guy more than Wesker... the one who is at the same compound in person with the doctor.

I saw it tonight and enjoyed it. You could almost skip the 2nd and get right to the 3rd. The 2nd was a bit cheesy. But I still loved all 3 movies. Is a 4th coming out?

oh man it sure looked like they set it up for a fourth. and come on, they are making money on it, so why wouldnt they consider a fourth?
