"The FBI has found scant evidence that the January 6 on the U.S. Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result, according to four current and former law enforcement officials.

Though federal officials have arrested more than 570 alleged participants, the FBI at this point believes the violence was not centrally coordinated by far-right groups or prominent supporters of then President Donald Trump, according to the sources, who have been either directly involved in or briefed regularly on the wide-ranging investigations."

This is what I've been saying all along: these people had no organization, no actual plans, they were mostly going along like sheep with no clue what the point was. Most of them aren't guilty of anything more than trespassing. That's how mobs have worked since before the French Revolution: people drawn along by emotion with no real understanding of what they're up to.

The sad thing is that this shows how easy it can be for a few handfuls of people to set twenty time their number into motion, using the mob as tools for something they don't even understand. When someone like the Proud Boys manage to get a leader bright enough to figure that out, then we will have to worry about riots aimed at insurrection.

I think I described the Capitol invasion as a little local difficulty and the rioters as rabble in another CE&P thread and got shouted down by all the right-on liberals who thought it was the first step in the planned elimination of American democracy.

It's kind of amusing that all along Trump supporters get dissed as incapable of intelligent action, but when something scary happens suddenly they're well-organized.

This isn't really surprising to me but says a lot when such an unorganized mob was able to get as far as they did inside the building. We are lucky that it wasn't well organized or there more than likely would've been more casualties.

People have to build up this narrative to keep up the patriotic propaganda that unfortunately fellow Americans love to push.

What's so surprising to me is that there are so many idiots in the GQP. Glad some of you are stepping outside the box to display your lack of reality or common sense.

And that offers an opportunity for someone who does want to do something reasonably organized: pull a half dozen stunts with sheep for mobs and get security to take such mobs lightly, then when they think security attitudes are desensitized enough, do the real thing, putting a few hundred of their own organized and practised people in the mob.
