Rhode Island House Votes 51-19 for Marriage Equality

It's a shame Jockboy87 isn't here to celebrate with us.

^ It is a total fucking shame. But I know that he is totally pumped and excited by another state joining the modern and civilized club of western nations and states that have struck a blow against institutionalized homophobia.

Indeed..I'm glad the bigots like Brian Brown,Tony Perkins and the rest will be around long enough to see it happen more and more.

Almost nothing gives me greater pleasure than to know that the evangelical hate mongers will taste the sour and bitter grapes of defeat again and again...as long as SCOTUS doesn't fuck it all up.

^ He got fed up and left. Another really good JUB contributor gone.

Sad to say but I don't think MN will be having marriage equality this year. Just because the ban was struck down, doesn't mean the state is ready for marriage equality.
Democrats gained control for the first time since 1990..and some of them come from districts that voted for this bill. They aren't going to give up control after gaining it.
Sad to say but I think we jumped the gun in MN. Wish it weren't that way..but it is.

May I just remind you of your predictions prior to November 6, 2012? ;)

The Democrats LOST control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time in decades in 2010. Our legislature is the most progressive one we've had in the last 20 years.

We would not have undertaken this effort if we didn't know we couldn't do it. I can assure you that right now we are within striking distance. The vote is likely to happen this week as a matter of fact.

I would love to be wrong. The thought of it happening in Crazy Eyes Michelle's backyard will be great.
