That way, Mitt would prevent Perry's supporters from going elsewhere, since Perry's supporters most likely would not be supporting Romney.

Just seems strange after Perry would make a "re-assess my campaign" comment ... and then turn around to say he is still in it.

Herman Cain did the same thing. By not saying, "I quit", but instead using the words "suspending my campaign", all of the candidates can still accept donations, throw thousand dollar a plate dinners - both of which under a tax-free status - And have tax-payer funded 'round the clock government security for themselves and their immediate family.
